Another Giugiaro Design for me

I picked up a project car last weekend. It is a 1975 Alfa Romeo Alfetta GT. Coincidentally, it was designed by Giugiaro. I must know how to pick them.

http://www.subaru-svx.net/photos/files/rally/13104.jpg

But really, Giugiaro has designed a lot of cars.

Not all glory

Ok there were some nice cars on there, but he designed a Yugo??? Oh the agony. My car's father also fathered a Yugo! (Talk about slumming it) (Thats the all night drunkin one night stand you never tell your friends about)

Sorry Rob!
That's what the site has always claimed, and that's what was brought up last time we got into this arguement.

Look, read the r&t guide. It says, SPECIFICALLY, that Guigiaro came in AFTER the general idea/concept/direction of teh SVX was already decided. He POLISHED what subaru's designers had already done. Read the guide. He was NOT primarily responsible for the SVX. The interior? Yes. It shows him working on that directly. But the exterior? ONLY PARTLY.

Page 58: "contracting with the best outside resources, such as Giorgetto Giugiaro, to style the body"

And also on page 58: "An identity-building project undertaken for Subaru by Giorgetto Giugiaro's ItalDesign in 1986 matriculated into the SVX concept car of 1989, which in turn became the production car of 1992 with suprisingly few alterations."

Here he is, working on the exterior, from page 19:

Seems a lot of places think he designed more than just the interior:

The general way of how the SVX looks was ALREADY DECIDED before Giugiaro was on the scene. Argue all you want, you can't change facts.

I quote facts from the R&T guide you ask us to read, so read it again:

And also on page 58: "An identity-building project undertaken for Subaru by Giorgetto Giugiaro's ItalDesign in 1986 matriculated into the SVX concept car of 1989, which in turn became the production car of 1992 with suprisingly few alterations."

He designed the SVX in 1986! This is from your matter-of-fact guide. Show me anything that says the opposite. Everything points to the opposite of your claims.

Check the pictures out here:

http://www.geocities.com/jamsvx2/initialprototype2.html

Interesting how the Giugiaro designs look so much like the production SVX. Maybe Subaru stole the designs? Oh wait, you probably think Giugiaro stole the designs from Subaru.

Giugiaro's Brera

Here was my pic of the bunch....the beautiful Brera.

I understand the new Alfa has some of the same styling clues,
but they missed it big time by not sticking to this awesome design.

Thumbs up

I could look at that car all day.

I think it is the most beautiful (modern) design I have ever seen.

that could be a nice design, but i think the front end is butt ugly- ruins the whole car. apparently, i don't like the triangle-y Alfa grille look, because i have the same problem with the B11S.

its very 928-ish - long hood and rounded ass.

See, you immediately look at it as an "argument" instead of a "discussion."
