O/T Rolex24 at Daytona

Got back from the Rolex24 at Daytona yesterday. Excellent is all I have to say. I saw all the car clubs, such as Porsche, Ferrari, Viper,.....etc, but no SVX. It would be awesome to see SVX's at a race such as Rolex24, 12hrs of Sebring, Race of Americas in Miami, or Road Atlanta. I wish I could say more but I am still dumbfounded, and my ears are still ringing. Pit access is the best!

Focal point....

Hey Ice....there was a prototype Focus that qualified well, but I never caught a mention of it during the coverage. Did you see it? Did it drop out early or did I just miss it? Don

I saw about 3-4 hours of the race on TV, quite amazing how the 911 stuck first position after about 6 hours of racing and keep the possition.

The #66 Car you saw was the first GT class car to win the Rolex24 since 1977. Impresive.

I must admit....it certainly doesn't LOOK like a Focus, but here is what it looks like. Do you know if it was able to finish? Don

Don, you're right, they called the Ford-powered DP2 car a 'Focus.' Ridiculous.

I watched several hours of the race, and I'm pretty sure that the Multimatic 'Focus' finished - either 4th or 5th overall. That also means that it took either first or second in its class.

There were DP2 cars entered with several different engines - Chevy, Ford, Toyota, Porsche...

Thanks Pockets...

I just stumbled on the results. The Focus was fourth overall and first in class. I believe it used a Yates-prepared modular V-8. It looks like they took the roof off a ZX3 and dropped it onto a GTP car! It has about as much in common with my car, as Jeff Gordon's car is related to the Monte Carlo over at the local Chevy dealer. (Dale Jr.'s Corvette did well though)

...but not bad for its first time out! Don
