Shot in the dark here, do you have the tweeters in the dash also hooked up along with the new 2way speakers?
If you wired the tweeters off the wires for the door speakers like it was wired stock, but replaced the stock driver in the door with a 2 way speaker, then your head unit is now seeing a 2ohm load and might not be happy about it and may clip and cut out and go into protection.
If the tweeters in the dash are hooked up, I'm go with with unhook them and see if it stops cutting out.

Re: speaker wiring diagram???/

my tweeter are not hooked up at the moment but it worked with the factory deck so I dont think that is what is happening. i think it is from the factory harness to the hu that is making the speaker cut out. i am not sure if it is in the wiring or in the Head Unit. it is very strange might have to take it to a car stereo shop to see if the hu is ok. if not have to return it to sonic elextroincs still dont want to do that but whatever.

Re: speaker wiring diagram???/

hi today did some more troubleshoot of the problem i am having i get a echo sound in my speakers like the are not getting enough power from the hu
some time they crackling sound when they cut out. but at times they work great and sound good when i wiggle the wire from the jvc harness that sometimes help contacted sonic electronics about this and put in for a return.

my question is if i have a 4 channel car stereo

will adding tweeters with out a crossover or with one put too much stress on the head units amplifer causing it to fail.....?

Re: speaker wiring diagram???/

Your XR-810 will not care that you have tweeters installed along with your 2way speakers as long as they have a built in crossover/high pass filter so that the 2ohm load is only in the high frequency.
In one of your other posts you typo and said it was an XS model .. which is super low end made only for walmart..which is why I brought it up the 2ohm issue.
So we can move on from that.

Next:
You don't need a separate crossover to run the tweeters as long as the ones you have, have built in filter/crossover.
Most tweeters have built in crossovers (Its just a filter that cuts everything below a certain frequency), even the cheap $2.50 ones.
I mean look:
http://compare.ebay.com/like/2807668...=sbar&_lwgsi=y

Moving on:
If its cutting in and out, that sounds like a loose something to me.
If its sounding hallow, missing treble, or one side is getting more this can also be a loose something.

My headphones I use on my pc have this hollowness and cut in and out, its because the slammed the wire in the door too many times and its broken on the inside, so I have to mess with it to get the sound to not cut out or be all hallow or missing all the trebble.

If you want to trouble shoot it. Run a direct wire from one of the new speakers and plug it into each channel on the head unit and see.
If the speaker works fine off all the channels, then its not the head unit and its time to start hunting for that damaged wire...

BTW, I eventually got so frustrated with the wires in the SVX that I trashed all of it and ran all the wires to the trunk off a 4 channel amp:

For those wondering why I only have 3 crossovers, my rear speakers are just for fill so they are wired together.
I did this for sound staging, it keeps the left and right separation more forward in the car.

Re: speaker wiring diagram???/

my tweeter say that they have a built in crossover here what it said on their website
300W - 1 1/2” Dome Tweeter with Built-In Crossover
· Frequency Response: 1-20KHz
· Sensitivity: 91 dB
· Dome Material: PEI
· Voice Coil: Ø25mm
but the new tweeter comes with a extra wire with a resistor on it. factor tweeter has a resistor on the speaker it self. my question is the aftermarket have a built in crossover in it. or is the crossover on that wire they sent with the resistor on it.. why would they send me a wire with a resistor on it if the crossover was built in?

Also i am shopping for subs as well here are the ones i am looking at they are budget models best deals i have found. they are the mtx terminators they are 12in subs with a amp
mtx magums 10s I am, leaning toward the 10s because i think they would work better in the small trunk space.

Re: speaker wiring diagram???/

I would bet that the resistors that come on their own wires are there for if your tweeters are to loud/bright.
If you put that resistor inline to the tweeter and it will cut its volume down some.

Far as subs go.
Amazon has them sets cheaper (and in stock):

10":
http://www.amazon.com/MTX-Magnum-MB2.../dp/B001J1XWZ4

12":
http://www.amazon.com/MTX-TNP212D2-D.../dp/B003E35XGQ

Doing a little digging on amazon I found the frequency response on the 12" set, the sonic site listed it as N/A...now I see why.

MTX 12" enclosure:
Frequency response (+/- 3 dB): 41 to 150 Hz
So the box itself will make the cut off 40hz.

The 12" MTX subs frequency response is: 24Hz - 160Hz
So the 12" set = throwing away all the low end base from 24hz to 40hz.

So at this point I have to say just go with the 10", since the box will be neutering the 12" at low frequency anyways.
The reason people go with larger sub is to better hit these lower frequencies, if the box is gonna cut them off, just go with the 10".

Re: speaker wiring diagram???/

so if get the 10s what amp wiring kit should i get.
forum member svxcess likes KnuKonceptz Kolossus cables so i looking at amp kits from them should i wire it with 8 or 4 gauge wire? the amp calls for 10 gauge but what do you have to do to make a higher gauge wire work with the amp? more inportantly, will this box fit inside the trunk?
Box Style/Shape
Square/Rectangle
Height
13-1/8"
Width
28"
Depth
11-1/2"
Second Depth
13"
Wood Thickness
5/8"

Re: speaker wiring diagram???/

sealed box = punchyier
ported box = boomier (louder)

This KnuKonceptz kit looks like good quality wire to me, I'm fine with that kit:
http://www.amazon.com/KnuKonceptz-KC...957007&sr=1-11

I wouldn't go anything cheaper than this kit:
