I either need my motor to quit before the 20th so I can build it or last long enough to get me thru it so might as well have a practice round.

I still say we all need to get together in vegas
to Vegas.

For the reasons you have listed above is the reason I didn't list other cites such as Chicago, Minneapolis, Indianapolis. I want to basically have a meet that will be for the people in the central US to get together. Meaning, making it just about in the middle of the country. Des Moines is a 7 hour drive for me, St Louis is about 7, and Kansas City is around 10 for me. Even Wichita or Omaha could be a decent place.
It seems that Kansas City may be a great place to have something though as far as being centrally located. about 7 hours from Chicago, Minneapolis, Indianapolis. 6 hours from OK city. 10 hours from Denver, Dallas. Many other cities all within 10 hours which is not a bad drive at all even if it is some of the most boring scenery to look at.

Perhaps something along these lines could also be posted in the "right in the middle" forum. Many in TX, OK may not bother looking at the midwest forum. Although, then again, not too many people seem to look in the regional threads at all.

See you guys in Vegas.

There are others of us.

I am in the Ames area. There is another 2 or three people in the Des Moines area, at least, and another over toward Amana.

That in addition to Nate.

I'll try to be there... the only question is... do I drive the SVX or the Legacy GT?

Re: Midwest SVXers

Just throwing ideas out there, but as far as time of year, its going to have to be in spring or in fall due to the heat in summer. I kinda have an idea of a labor day weekend event, and possibly having something at a campground. What are people's thoughts on this???
I was looking and there are a couple campgrounds to the east of Kansas City on Blue Springs Lake as well as Lake Jacomo. They feature sites as low as $14 or $18 per night with electric.

There also appear to be boat launches/marinas that could be a great spot for a group pic.

There are also a few hotels within a couple miles of this area.
Basically just trying to throw out ideas, get opinions, get people's minds turning.

Re: Midwest SVXers

I've helped set up the Neon meet last year in Belvidere, IL and I know the hotel there didn't care what we did... which I think included swapping out a transmission in the parking lot at 11 at night LOL.

I'm thinking that I might just make it down to this. Looks/sounds like it could be pretty fun. Never even been to a car meet. Should be interesting.

bheinen- Did you go last year? U going this year?

Has anyone else went to one of these? Any SVXers going for this forum?

Re: Midwest SVXers

Well, the big Subaru Shootout was last Saturday... sadly I was the only SVX there! It ran a 16.07 in the 1/4 mile... so sadly it wasn't too quick compared to the turbocharged stuff out there. Sure did get a LOT of looks and attention though!
