Intake....

Finished mocking up my intake tonight. Just need to weld, grind, and sand to finish it (maybe paint)... Here are some pics.

Re: Intake....

Looks sweet. Great Idea! You think it is actually worth any ponies? I would do it regardless but it wouldn't hurt

Re: Intake....

I followed YT's design and his gained 19whp on a N/A car.. On my supercharged car I would expect slightly more than that... Maybe, we will see when I hit the dyno...

Re: Intake....

Those intake pics look familiar.

This pic is of an intake I was making. Good luck bro. I wish u all the well. I gave up and asked Tom to make it for me with the same design concept in mind. Merging the single pipes together is the tricky part (Unless you somehow run dual air filters, which I'd think would be best overall).

Re: Intake....

Well if the new standalone set up eliminates the MAF then this intake will go on my new pearlie and a twin intake will go on my supercharged car...

Re: Intake....

i don't know enough about the electronics, but what would happen if you ran the dual intake with two MAF's spliced together? I've been thinking about doing that to mine to see.

You would need a standalone to keep the two signals separate, I believe.

Re: Intake....

the airlfow signal also monitors air temp and density... wouldn't want to double those values

I am not great in electronics as well. I thought about this and here's my conclusion.

1) The second most important thing to do is make sure that both intakes have exactly the same diameter,

2) The length of both intakes may not be as critical as the diameter. Try to make the lengths of both of them somewhat the same though.

3) If you want the airflows from both intakes to be similar, put a 'dead' or non-functioning maf sensor (The same type as the working one) in the second intake. This is to create a similar 'restriction' as the functioning one.

4) The most important thing to do is to be able to install a voltage multiplier (Is there such a thing?) in between the maf flow sensor voltage and the ECU. If there is such a device, you want this device to read the voltage and double the reading before it sends it to the ECU.

Those are my weird thoughts on this.

Re: Intake....

MAFs have non-linear curves for airflow vs voltage. Also the curves before and after a maf will screw with the readings
