Volvo 244DL won't start, has spark.

My ex-wife's car won't start. At first there was no spark, i checked coil, had spark, replaced dist cap and rotor, and there was spark at the plugs again, but it still wouldn't start. Fuel pump is working fine, i can't seem to figure it out. Can anyone provide some suggestions?

The year would help as several different fuel injection systems were used throughout the 240's production. Do you have noid lights? Check to see that the injectors are getting pulsed. Are you sure the timing belt is intact or hasn't skipped? Are you sure the car has fuel in the tank?

It's a 1987 Volvo 244DL. I'm sure the timing belt didn't skip, as i got it running for a very brief time, but i shut it off and it didn't come back on after waiting an hour to retry it, as i htought it might have been fixed.

My Brat acts like that when the coil is about to die. It will have spark, but not enough to make it run properly. Since I've learned this, I've begun to carry an extra coil with me...

undo the lines of the fuel pump before and after. First check to see if the in tank pump is functioning then the primary. Be careful and get a bucket as fuel will spray out. The primary should be fairly loud, you don't notice it when it's not working but when it does you can really hear it. Also check the fuel pump relay, I believe its right above the steering column under the dash on the firewall.
