Resonator?

Does anyone know how much the SVX Factory Resonator costs?

And will after market resonator fit/work well on the SVX?

Any input would be helpful.
Thanks.

Some people have picked up a small tube style glass-pack muffler as their resonator.

Guesstimate from Car Shop

Well I asked a mechanic at a local full service shop and he said the resonator would run somewhere around $50 for the part (after-market). I don't know if he's just talking out his a$$, but he made it seem like that's the usual price for resonators.

Could it be that the SVX resonator is that much different from any other after-market resonators?

Midnightblack92: I'll have to get back to you once I found out some more specifics about the SVX resonator and a possible after-markey replacement.

Thundering02: Glass pack.... will that change the sound of my exhaust?

You can put in a glasspack instead of the resonator. They are cheap - $30 - $50 They generally have less volume so they may do a slightly worse job of sound reduction and exhaust expansion. Probably nothing you would notice though. Try to get the longest one you can to make up for it. Alot of people replace the stock resonator with a straight pipe or glasspack. Do not spend $300 on a subaru resonator.

Dayle sells a 2.5 in/out resonator that works great (I have one in my system)

Thanks!

Thank you to everyone who has input some information on my resonator issue. I'm going to take the Glass pack advice and finally get rid of this really annoying buzzing sound. Hopefully when I mention a glass pack to the service shop, they'll have no problems in getting one. Thanks again!

One Piece

The reason the Subaru price seems so high is that the center section of the OEM exhaust is one piece---pipe and resonator (everything between the 3d cat and the muffler). Installing an alternate aftermarket will requiring cutting and welding it in. I do agree that the humming noise on some cars is very annoying. In a thread here some time ago, someone showed how to fix that humming noise by cutting and welding some part of the resonator.
