Ford Explorer=roll over king!

I just read in the paper that the Ford Explorer Sport Trac 4x2 got the worst rating in the governments new roll-over tests....WAY TO GO FORD! Here's to being number 1....for all the wrong reasons

I read it in the paper. Sorry, current technology does not allow me to give you a link to the newspaper in my trash.

Well, whaddya know? The NHTSA is apparently doing a new rollover test. I see that their previous ratings were purely mathematical and probably not very accurate.

I wouldn't bash Ford over this just yet. As you can see on the list, very few SUVs have actually been tested. It's likely there will be worse yet.

I am a pessimistic optimistic. I think the worst is going to happen, that way when it does, i don't feel as bad, but if the best happens, i am twice as happy.

On my way home from work on Tuesday, I noticed that some guy decided to do a rollover test of his Pathfinder - it failed.

Ford has been blasted for years for the design of the Explorer. It's a very tall and narrow design that even in it's current iteration is quite unstable. I think it's probably the fact that Ford is struggling so much right now that is keeping one of their best selling vehicles from getting good design attention.
