Gas Gauge

Has anybody ever had a problem with the gas gauge, mine has been acting weird. Last week I put $10 of gas and the needle went up almost to the center of the gauge like it has been doing since I've had the car. When I needed gas again I put another $10, this time the needle only went up just a little bit higher then the first line in the gauge! (Same gas station & same price) I drove my car until the gas light came on and this time I put $15 worth of gas and the needle just barely made it to the center line. Any suggestions

Are our gas gauges ever right?

The gauge issue is an extremely common problem. I'd suggest using the search feature and you will find someone else who has had the exact same problem as you as well as what's wrong and how to fix it.

Yeah, always put a full tank in and refill once gauge is below half-full. Less air in the tank - less moisture.

I've heard gas gauges going screwey. None of mine (apart from the first one did that). *Knocks on wood* Ok the deal is if you want it reset, you can pull out the pin and push it back in at "E"

When the gas light comes on, you know you still have 90 miles left. So I pull the pin out and push it back at absolute 10 miles left area. You fill it up and it goes up straight and beyond "F"

The deal with my old 94L is that I screwed up the Gas gauge so its beyond repair. It could stay at E then jump up to F the next bump you hit. The only fix is to go get a new gauge and replace it. Easy to do.

How do you know if you have my old SVX? Interior of the plastics are black instead of gray/wood. Cloth seat has some rip (fake leather part). Front headlight has a missing chrome cover.

The gas gauges in my Legacy and Justy are a little unreliable. The Justy's, at least, is extrememly vague and the Legacy's is incredibly pessimistic. My SVX's works pretty well, but in all the cars we use the trip meters. The SVX and Legacy have very reliable, predictable fuel lights. When the light comes on in the SVX, I know I have 4-4.5 gallons left. On the freeway that can get me over 100 miles. The Justy has no fuel light, so I fill it when it passes 200mi on the tank, or when it starts to sputter after left turns.
