Lag in sear belt operation

I put a new battery in my remote and now it works. I turned on the security switch and the remote does what it is supposed to do. Now my shoulder belt takes several seconds to move. Be fore turning on the security system they operated as soon as the door closed and switch turned. Is this delay normal? Thanks for all the good info... Jim

No it's not normal. Does it hesitate both when opening the door and closing the door?

I remember some people saying that they were getting water in the doors. This could possibly short the switch letting the car know the door is open/closed.
