Just bought my SVX cheapest price ever!

So I go with my friend who is also a car dealer to a the dealer auction to find me a car. I was looking for a honda at the time, but had no luck at all. We were getting ready to leave till this 1992 Black SVX pulls up next in line to be auctioned off. The thing is beautiful with NO damage and 110,000 miles on it, but there was one problem that everyone saw, it was overheating like CRAZY! I was feeling kinda dumb since I wanted it soooo bad so I told my friend to go ahead and bid on it. NO ONE else would bid on it since it was overheating and didnt want to mess with it. I make a bid for $900 and auction ends with me the high bidder!!! So we go and look at this SVX only to find out that it needs antifreeze! Thats it!! We add antifreeze and I drive my baby home!!! How lucky was that. Unfortunatly I didnt know that it was a gas guzzling machine. It uses more gas than my friends 300zx Twin Turbo, so Im gonna have to sell it .

Congrats

Congrats on your buy! I suggest not selling just because of gas. I remember reading in a magazine that calculated how many miles you would need to drive with one of those hybrid cars before it would save you over an average car (say 20mpg). It would take something like 2,000,000 miles for it to be worth it to trade in your old car (if the value was under 5k or something like that). I know its kinda like apples to oranges, but the SVX is not that much of a gas guzzler, so I would highly discourage selling based on that alone. You should be getting about 18-20mpg, which I don't think is any less than the 300zx.

Wow, great deal! As for the gas mileage, I usually get around 20 city, and up to 29 highway. I don't think my 300Z ever did that good.

And if you're serious about selling, please let me know... I'd love another black 92, and I'm here in KC.

If you've already put 30,000 miles on it, I'm guessing this great deal wasn't a recent thing? What type of problems has it been having? Regardless, as much as I'd love to buy it right now, my GF would kill me. I just started working at the local Subaru dealership, and until I get some cash coming in and sell some of my other cars, I can't add another one to my collection

Of course, if you're interested in a 95 Accord LX 5spd we could work out a trade Uh... never mind... the GF caught me typing that and said NO!

Maybe in a few months... if you sell it before then, so be it.

From the sound of it, I hate to put it that way but in that 30k miles that you have, you seemed to have abused it a little as well. Dents, some heat issues are not a good thing. But I like the fact that you are honest about them though.
