Manual left front seat rails
I'd like to install a pair of Recaro seats in my Toy.
At this time I think the easiest way is to use the mounts, rails and seat belt anchor from manual seats. So, if any of you RHD guys have a passenger seat (LH) laying around and would like to part with the mounts and the rails only I would be very happy . Pls see the attached illustration. This is all I need. Four bolts and the cable for the tilt mechanism is all that's needed to take out if you have a seat available. Kind regards, Tapani |

Re: Manual left front seat rails
You can use the manual rails from the passenger's side on the driver's side. This is what I did when I put racing seats in RacerX

Re: Manual left front seat rails
Oh, are they a direct fit?
The seat belt thingy can not be - eh? They are mirror images. I do not wish to modify the belt arrangement and I haven USM automatics. Was there a manual LHD drivers seat available in the US? If yes, then I trust I could use these rails? /T |

Re: Manual left front seat rails
So this is what I need for the LH side, pls see attachement.
Tapani PS I also trial fitted the RH front seat from my 2006 Outback :-). The front mounts are almost a direct fit, but the rears need work.... the seat is a tad too high too. And the seat belt issue should be solved. The seat is not that much better, not worth the hassle and finding good seats. |

Re: Manual left front seat rails
JDM passenger side rails are on their way from the UK thanks to Mal . Thank you Malcom !
I trial fitted LT-L Recaros yesterday, I think they are a good compromise. Soooo much better than the OEM seat, but not as tight as the more track oriented seats. I only do maybe 5 track days a year so there's a risk of going too far in this area too. I especially like the early -90's look - think about the Quattros of the era. I am still waiting for a final quote for a pair, I hope it will be within my limits. If this goes forward I will post another thread. Simple adapter plates need to be manufactured, the bolt patterns do not match exactly. /T |
