Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

Over the last month:

New MAF
New O2 sensors
New valve covers & valve cover gaskets
New brake fluid, oil change .. no new tranny fluid as tranny was flushed and fluid replaced just prior to storage. Oh, and new tires for 1,000 kilometres before putting the car away.
New plugs.

The car had been sitting covered in a garage since late 2007.

It is now totally rejuvenated.

I just spent the last two days doing minor cosmetic work to the driver's seat with a leather restorer, as well as rubbing the f*&^k out of the car's paint with Meguiar's Ultimate Compound.

Did a hell of a job, did that stuff. Got rid of swirl, haze and quite a few scratches.

I swear my SVX looks almost as good as when I got it with 40,000 kilometres on the odometer 13 years ago.

Oh .. and I drove it. Nice ! 140km/hr down Highway 99 with one finger resting on the steering wheel

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

Replaced the fuel pump after a couple loooooong weeks without my baby.

Made a temporary fix on the vacuum line going to the throttle bypass, or IAC i forget what they call it on these... And MAN! could they have put that line in a worse spot?? Right behind the alternator & compressor and under the freaking manifold!

Now that she's running again she starting making a new noise.
Probably pissed at me for taking so long with the pump.

How hard are they to take off ?

Can you describe doing it for me, so that I can attempt this ? I would also like to paint my bumper skins.

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

Finally, properly (don't ask ), tightened my power steering belt up so it's snug and no longer squealing (exclaim). Hope hope hope it stays that way but it seems good so far.

It's been a good 6 months since I've properly done anything aside from the timing belt fiasco and small problems have occurred (some before) since the timing belt needed replaced last, so I made a list of things I need to get fixed before summer. For those interested a quick rundown:
==============
Parts:
==============
Front Caliper - $80
Hood Struts - $40
Master Window Switch - $35ish
Exhaust Parts - $60
Air Filter - $14
Fuel Filter - $20
A/C Pulley + Parts $70
Rear Tail Bulb Holder - $9ish
2 O2 Sensors - $80
Front/Rear Brakes - $60
Synthetic Oil - $32
===============================
Total Parts: $498
===============================

==============
Labor:
==============
Caliper + Brakes installed - $100
Oil Change - $10
o2 Sensors Installed - $60
A/C Pulley Installed - $40
Fuel Filter Installed - $35
Exhaust Work - $75
===============================
Total Labor: $320
===============================

Total Summer Savings: -$818

After that... I should be gold... at least, for a little while. I'm afraid I'll easily bump over $1k should I actually need a rack/pinion deal due to the steering issue.

Kind of pricey but a small price to pay overall I guess ( I always throw the no payments factor in there). Little things add up quickly.

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

That sucks redlightningsvx, I have seen pictures of that car, it is a beautiful one.

I washed and waxed my Claret and had the oil changed and the summer tires put on. Also removed the wind deflector from the sunroof. I should have done that years ago as the lines of the car look better, it lets more sun in, and now my sunroof opens by itself without me having to give it a nudge!

I looked at my SVX covered in snow in the morning as I drove by it in my Forester.
