Question I found a lot of water backseat floor, passenger side???

I just found a large amount of water in the backseat floor, passenger side, I can't see any evidence of a leek.
The car sits outside and it rains continuously here in Vancouver. Can somebody possibly explain a logical reason for a water buildup here?
Is there a sunroof drain that runs somewhere nearby that could cause this? or a floor plug that may have become dislodged?

The water appears to be concentrated under the passenger seat and to the floor behind, lots of it.

First, check the trunk. Make sure it is dry.
There are sunroof drain tubes that run in that area. I don't know exactly where. Take a thin piece of long wire and make sure they are not plugged up. Start at the sunroof.

Thx, I'll try that, and look in the trunk too. haven't checked there yet.
I did wash my car outside the other day, but not sure whether I was spraying water under the door?hmm.

Didn't you drive in rain/snow when you drove it back from MD? If the inside didn't get wet then, maybe you should modify your car washing technique.

I think it must be my car washing technique, or something simular.
No water in the trunk, so I've just opened the sunroof in our underground parking, hopefully it will dry out.

Then see if it comes back.

I had the exact same problem. When I slid around a left hand corner and hit the curb, it jarred the body enough to crack the sealing goop. I took it to the dealer who called a "leak specialist" and they finally found it (3 weeks later) after they pulled out the whole dashboard. It was located under the panel the wipers rest on.
I would recommend removing the front seat, sopping up the water and get it good and dry. Then lay down towels along the floor (prop up the carpet/pad so it's completely off the floor boards) and check frequently to see if it gets wet in the front first or in the back. The water will always migrate to the back so you need to find out where it's coming from. Then run a hose in different areas until you see where it's leaking.

GOOD LUCK TO YOU!

Had that problem with the Justy. Problem was the rocker panel area was filling up with water and not draining properly. Unfortunately the next highest drain point was to the interior.

Solution was to dig out the grime from the 3 drains with a screwdriver. Haven't looked to see if the SVX has the same drains.

I am currently going through the same thing, except on the drivers side. After removeing all the interior side trim, seat and carpet, and spraying the whole car with water, the site of the leak was found to be at the door weatherstrip just above the little black triangle at the bottom back lower portion of the driver's side window. The water was squeezing through here and tracking down the body side weather strip into the car and down to the floor board. You may want to check here if your car has never been in an accident, as on casual inspection, no change in the weather strip is apparent. Good luck. Bill Z

No matter how much water you used, or what your washing technique is (assuming the windows and doors are closed ), there's no reason to be getting water where you are.
Keep looking for the leak.
Also, let it air dry (no heat) or it might get stinky...

I need a dry place to let it air out, my work parkade doesn't help much, but since its been raining continuously here, I can't tell if its getting worse.
I will definately check the door drains, If I can figure out where they are. And I did notice a little trickle on the front drivers door area coming from just behind the inside door skin.

One thing I can say is that I did remove the passenger side door skin to check for a rattle, and replaced it without much trouble, I'll have to look closer to see if I can find some evidence.

I still hope it turns out to be something easy....

I just had another look, and it appears I am getting water from the front, and its running to the back, I have about an Inch of water under the carpet, back seat. and the front is wet in the low spots under the carpet. I'll pull the seat tomorrow, probably have to go buy a garage.

Use blue paper towels, as they will highlight any liquid they come in contact with.

I had this problem on my driverside. Water was coming in from under the door skin and running under the drivers seat. I pulled the panel off and ran water around the door. Turns out it was running down the window split rail, dripping on to the door wirering harness, and running in to the other side of the plastic on that. Very screwed up that every thing had to be lined up perfect for the water to get inside. Then again if you had the door apart and the plastic off you just might want to make sure it's sealed good again.

Guess what: I pulled the seat, pulled up the carpet, and there was at least an inch and a half of water in the back seat floor. It was covering the bottom of the control box bolted down there, no idea what box this is, but it had letters on it like AT and AWD and it may be something important, and probably shouldn't be exposed to water.

Anyways, once all the carpet was out, O hosed down the car and say a small dribble of water running down the inside front of the rubber door frame trim. I assumes it was not sealing properly, so I removed it and tightened the grip by squeezing the C shaped groove closed. Then, added some silicone to the edge, and pushed it all back into place. waited a while, then tried the water again. Crap, still the same problem, so I looked around to see where it could be coming from, checked all the grommets and rubber plugs, they where solid.

Now that mention your resolution above, that would make perfect sence. Since I had not had a problem, that I know of, until after I pulled the door skin off, so I'll cross my fingers and check the door to car wiring harness channel.

BTW, that sponge under the carpet is never going to dry out.

Maybe you could just drill some holes in the floor and that way the water wouldn't just sit there! Sorry, I had to do that. Hope you can find the leak. That is very frustrating to keep trying things and not get it solved. Did you take the seats out to get the carpet out of the car? Just wondered.
