Question Stock alarm question

I am new here but trust me you guys will see more of me. I just got a '92 SVX and i have cleaned it up (you guys should have seen how durty this car was inside) and put my subs in and today the CD reciver will be going in. My only problem that i havent worked out is the alarm. In the manual it says that you can arm the alarm by pushing the button in the car. but to this day (with the ignition on, off..) when i push the button the little light still wont blink.
My other car the one ill have to sell for bearing.... is a 87 Nissan pulsar and i installed the alarm myself so i am in confusion with this high tech 92 stuff

First, does it work, at all? Does the light stay on constantly, whether the system is on or off? Or, does the bulb not illuminate at all? Either, sometimes indicates the system is inop. Can you put it in programming mode (all doors and trunk closed, security system in OFF position, turn ignition on with engine off, then, turn ignition off and immediately pressing security button until horn beeps once and parking lights blink with a clicking coming from the glovebox -- then press one remote three times, and one remote two times, or if one remote, just press three times, with each press being accompanied by a beep from the horn to indicate it's getting the signal, then, turning the ignition on with the engine off, then turning ignition off, to complete programming)?

If it's the light, remove the light pod, by inserting a small flat-blade scredriver into the far end of the pod (not the single switch, but the entire row of switches), being careful not to scratch it -- and pulling with your index finger on the end of the pod nearest the steering wheel. It should pop out. Make sure you have a replacement LED (don't know the part #). If you have a replacement single LED, it's a matter of pulling the old one from the white foam rubber housing (It's obvious, from the back of the switch), remembering how to "re-string" the wires to replace it. If you order the OE part number, it well already be in the foam rubber housing and ready for an out/in replacement. Then, just snap the switch pod back into the dash.

Is this what you was asking, Landshark?

Ok well i just tried to get it into programming mode still no light, horn, or other cosmic happenings. Is there a hidden alarm fuse or would the switch just need replacing?

If you can't get into to programming mode, more than likely, it's not just your switch. Your box (located behind the glovebox) is probably shot. Now, you COULD try pulling the switch, and pulling out the little white foam rubber LED and putting it back in (I did this to someone's car at the 10th meet, and it started blinking -- dunno if it started working again or not). Otherwise, either hope you, or someone else can find you a salvaged box, or, order a new one from www.subaruparts.com -- go to the "Accessories" catalogue for the SVX.

You could try disconnecting the battery overnight and see if it re-sets anything. This sometimes helps for those whose security light stays steady all the time. Just a though. Wish I could help more.
