That was a complicated project. I had to make some little metal runners for the switch contacts to touch and solder wires to them. Then I had to shave out the shape of each runner in the plastic switch body. I basically copied the same design as the actual switches. It's definitely more work doing it this way than with a shift lock button.

These are the little runners before I glued them in.

This is finished, before I put it back together.

Did you check with Nate or somebody that has a lot of parts cars? You literally only need the plastic oval piece. If you could make one out of something else, then you wouldn't even need that. I used a generic push button on-off switch that I had from a CD player or something, and just glued the plastic oval to it to make it look stock.
I cut out a small slot in the top of the plastic button for an LED, but I haven't decided how to power it yet.

Re: Another wiring question.

I did mine the lazy way. used that switch housing but I just stuck a switch in it:

Who has a pic of the steering wheel mounted switch, I like that one the best I think.

Re: Another wiring question.

Although I have not done this mod, I always thought that using a foot--activated, floor mounted headlight switch (like in the older cars to control high beams) would be ideal.

No cutting or drilling, completely reversible, and the ease of not having to move your hands from the wheel to activate. It would also be easy to run a separate LED anywhere to show when it was activated.

Just a thought.
