It depends on the age, or something!... not everyone of them are on record.

Some will lock simply by pushing down the latch and closing the door... others pushing down the latch and raise the handle to lock when you close the door.

I dont know about now, but years ago they had those little cases you put your key in, with a big magnet behind it and hide it somewhere underneath the car as easily reachable as possible. I wouldnt do that, I keep the old spare in my wallet

It depends on the dealership that initially sold the car as new. SOA didn't record the VIN/Key Code data, they relied on the dealers that sold the car to do that.

Some dealers did... Some didn't...

oh ok yeah mine is a '92 and they couldn't find them here...my car was originally sold in Florida.

you know i have the window sticker from when it was originally sold and i tried finding the dealer to see if they might have them, but they went out of business sometime ago...and the dealer there now sells BMWs

When I show my drivers license, whoever takes it turns it over and they do always comment. It feels a bit heavier than normal I suppose.

i hid a slim jim under mine. that way if someone wants to steal it at least they have to know what they are doing. also good to make quick cash when you see someone in a parking lot who locked their keys in the car.
