transmission code

I read somewhere that my94+ had most of the transmission fixes done do it. My transmission code starts with a 7 and most of the fixes were done prior to 6 so does that mean I do not have to worry about the heat/gumup problems with this tranny?

thanks
tr

ps and does that mean if I put a my97 tranny it should be good as gold.

i've got a '97 and i still put in an aftermarket cooler/filter. tranny will still get above 200 deg on a hot day going up hills. if you get a temp gauge you can monitor when its getting hot and take measures to cool it down, such as avoiding inclines, coasting, etc. i said before, if i had to do it over again, i'd get a cooler with a fan and the programmable temp gauge that would trigger the fan at a preset temp. check out www.summitracing.com for coolers/filters/gauges.

trany code

I just purchased a 94 L fwd with 70k on it. The previous owner maintained it pretty well.. anyway I have the following question.

with occasional bursts of WOT (maybe once a day!) no hills well maintained (3 month oils changes etc.) no after market cooler, do you think I'll be able to get 130K+ miles on the trany. I know this is a semi far fetched question but .... All my other subies (legacys) went at least 150k miles (driven real hard) I know this is not an apple to apples comparison but I can't believe the tranny is that bad.

thanks

With the SVX, it's all metter of luck. I had a 94L that I bought with 70k on it and the tranny died at 78k. I also had 92 SVX with 146k on the clock that I sold recently with the original tranny -- alive and kicking. It all depends on the previous owner and how he/she took care of the car. If your car has synthetic, keep it that way, However, DO NOT switch from regular to synthetic. It will mess it all up. Do not put any other "preformance" liquids. If your tranny was taken care of, it will last for a while for you.
