Deven is Leaking!

TRANNY FLUID GO GOOOSH!

i dont know what happened.

Yesterday, I was driving it all week very conservatively and boop, turn it on yesterday, before trying to go down to New Brunswick *45 minute drive, i was punching in the directions into my GPS and warming up* and 1/2 mile down the road (there's a trail there, i can take vid if ya want...) i realize it smells like transmission fluid, that it's starting to leave a trail of some smoke, and that it flaired from 2nd to 3rd so i slow down and stop! turn around and park it in a liquor store parking lot on a hill facing out to the wtreet and 5 mins later there's a puddle at hte bottom of the hill.... of red. Then 45 minuts later at 640pm the tow guy comes with his son (i must have ruined dinner or something) and then we venture off to my folks' auxilery property.

I asked my dad if he saw a puddle in the driveway, and he said a small one. When i saw the size of the puddle i wanted to smack him in the head and say "THATS SMALL?!" but i refrained from doing so. I have pictures!

So yes, deven has a leak and i dont understand how! I'm so frustrated with my svx.... I just got it out of the shop... and hope its minor.

Check it out tho, its only where i parked it and never trailed to the parking spot. It was leaking until after it was parked or moved from being parked. AND IM NOT the type to push it into park before stopping (i have friends like that *cringes*) and definately have been conservative.

STORY TIME: The other day after Deven passed inspection, of all things, a ****ing Red Ferrari is frooming and vrooming next to me at a stop light and i literally shook my head at him. I just got my car back, i wasnt about to **** it up in a no win situation. I'm also highly against the idea of racing (let alone with morons in fast Male Enhancement machines)

jan 1 2010, 1st FAIL of the year!

Re: Deven is Leaking!

Are you sure the leak is from the transmission? It could be from the steering. I agree, that is no small leak.

Re: Deven is Leaking!

It is probably not going to be too bad of repair, maybe a bad hose or a gasket that needs to be changed.

Ya know that's what I was thinking and definitely what I'm praying [to SVX-ia, the goddess of SVX's, a very vengeful and ungrateful, and very jealous goddess, Daughter of Subaruvius (yes i know Subaru is already a constelation, Pleiades, and figure: Atlas'{Greek god} daughters)]

i was thinking gasket mostly because of its position and how perfect the trail is. they're sort of linearly dependent, and it kind of looks like a DNA test :P

I figure its gasket related on the under pan thing where u unbolt to change out trans fluid... and i pray its just that

anyways... also to reply to Earl: its not (just) from the power steering, tho that does have or at least used to have an issue. The power steering would be preferred, believe me... The car was flaring a little bit and i checked the trans fluid and all gone... = no fun...

Re: Deven is Leaking!

From this picture;

Is that were you had the car parked? Or did the large spot come after the tow?

My guess is one of the lines from the trans leading up to the cooler. They are in the area of the ATF fill tube/dipstick. There should be 2 hoses about 12" each, a hose clamp on each end. You can reach around to inspect them from above the car.

I knew you would chime in Dave, after your hose clamp fiasco

that spot came when he came off the tow truck. the spot on the street with the trail was the initial leak.

im not totally sure where that is. I hope to have Mike621 check up on those issues...

THE MAN WHO'S BEEN IN MY PANTS WINS A PRIZE! (he borrowed my shorts a few years ago.... anyways... )

According to Mike, the hoses are spit and the clamps are old. I'll have my general mechanic deal with them and see if its just that...

Thanks again to Mike for trekking out to my car, amidst his own Claret troubles...

Re: Deven is Leaking!

yet another update,
i attempted to change the hose, and i did, but i dont think i clamped it right cuz it started pissing the stuff out again.

im going to get my general mechanic to take a look. i spent 3 hours on one hose heh. i'm definately not the Do It Yourself type...

heres for trying!

whatever

Re: Deven is Leaking!

Last Update,

Deven is no longer leaky. Trans hoses suck to change... That is all.
