Timing belt cover rubbing? Thumping noise...
Heard some noise under the hood earlier when it was cold and thought another coil pack was going. (light thumping) I pushed against the timing belt cover and the noise went away.
Doesn't seem like a good sign but how do I tighten it up or can I?

Re: Timing belt cover rubbing? Thumping noise...
I just had this happen to a car a couple weeks ago... The inner cover mounting bushing had gone to **** and/or cover cracked and allowed the cover to push out. MY fix was to use a 6x1mm bolt with a fender washer in place of the original bolt. This grabbed onto the cover and pulled it back in... This is on the driver's side right? Prob the bolt behind the cam gear so you will have to work through the holes in the gear w/ just the front cover off

I had this problem too... I used a zip tie going from the top corner bolt to the oil filler tube. It worked really well. I eventually did a reseal and just replaced the inner cover.

Is there anything zip ties can't fix?
