I suspect this is just a data entry anomaly. One of my Georgia registration slips reads "AWD," the other, "4WD."

Remember that the only two years of FWD is 94 and 95. The only other one that didn't have AWD was the 92 (which is AWD). I think that the 94 and 95 numbers were the FWD models. Just my thought.

Re: It's official, and sad.

If any of the cars on the list were actually, in real life, worth more than $3500-$4500 (wholesale), they wouldn't be on the list. A car dealer would have taken the car as a conventional trade and sold it at the auction. Car dealers do not turn down an opportunity to make money. Additionally, if they sold the car at auction, they would have the money immediately. Lots of my friends in the new car business are still waiting for hundreds of thousands of dollars from the government for their CARS participation.

Re: It's official, and sad.

That is a lot of faith in common sense on the part of dealers, who initially thought it would be a fast, assured 4500. Auctions don't get you a guaranteed price, they get you what somebody who wants a good deal is willing to pay.

Common sense had no role in the C4C/CARS program from it's inception, I don't take for granted that the dealers had it, either. Many of them were clamoring for the program, until it fell on it's face on the back end, and they had already fronted the money.

Re: It's official, and sad.

Well one of them 95's didn't go to the grave. 7 weeks after I reluctantly traded my 95 with its myriad of things that need fixing, got a call from the dealer. A "technicallity" broke the deal and they'll let a 2k "trade" allowance stand or I just buy it back for 3,500. Looks like my Insurance company of 25 years has some explaining to do about a 3 day gap in the insurance coverage. Never sent me anything in writing nor did they say there was a problem when we conversed by phone. Making this stranger, the dealer has 2 letters from State Farm, One saying no problem and one a couple days later saying "3 day gap in the coverage". Bottom line, my remorse / guilt about the SVX will be resolved with the car stayin alive. The only car out of 79 the dealer processed that flunked.
