Question uh oh spoke to soon help please

alright I dont know what went wrong but now my power light is flashing when I turn on the car, it flashes 16 times then goes off, everything seems alright it drives like before. I did the resistor mod could that be it ? I also just did the air res- and it came on after that, I did not notice it after the resistor but could be blind-- I did the self test and this is what happend------ the power light came on for about 4-5 seconds then it flashed once really quick and went off for about 4-5 sec and just kept repeating ---- the same thing for the previous prob test , can somebody please help, any suggestions are appreciated

I took it for a short little drive to see what was up, started going down hill I was in 3rd and it started to slip or something it was weird, it was like it kept shifting from 3 to 2 but kept doing it, I put it in D and it stopped, but it is definately acting up- I am going to try and plug the resistor back in and see what happens,-- its like it was all fine until I took out my air resonator, don't know what I did--

Look up power light and there are posts that tell you how to test the error. You will see what's wrong with the car. Good luck since it's tranny related.

Unplugging the resistor cause a code 11 in the TCU, which would explain the blinky power light.

And yes, unpluggin the resistor causes it to do funky things in 3rd gear when coasting.

Plug it back in, and you're home free.

As Bart and Lisa once said, "PLUG IT IN!, PLUG IT IN! PLUG IT IN!

I also tried the resistor mod on my 97 but could not get the Check Engine light to go out even after a week of driving. Then all of a sudden the tranny started acting up at very low speeds by downshifting suddenly. I plugged it in and everything went back to normal.

My humble advice is to leave everything alone for a while until you get familiar with the vehicle, and then only change one thing at a time. This way, when something starts acting weird, you can more easily diagnose the cause.

thanks

I did try to plug it in last night and did not notice any difference, but this morn I tested res it was 12 then I looked at the plug on the res and one of the pins has receeded back, so I pulled it back out with a needle nose pluged it back in and now it is fine. no more trouble codes or flashing power light, I wont touch that thing again It's waaay better plugged in

the power light flashing is normal......

with the resistor unplugged. so is the third gear deceleration quirk. the advantage of having the resistor unplugged is sportier shifts that actually causes less friction. smooth shifts equal heat. i have had my resistor unplugged for over a year and everything is great.
