5Eat, legacy.

Anyone thought about a 5spd auto? say from a legacy GT?
you can have some button shifty things on the steering wheel!
just driving my GT this morning and thought hmm sure would be nice to hit the shifter on the wheel while watching the world go by at light speed.

Re: 5Eat, legacy.

It has been discussed but I think most have abandoned the project due to the enormous wiring and computer control difficulties involved, but I wish someone would as this would be really be nice.

Re: 5Eat, legacy.

The 5 speed is a problem. Got more chance of fitting the later 4 speed box.

Re: 5Eat, legacy.

reports are that it has been done. There are 2 cars in Japan using paddle shift RSK Legacy transmissions.
One of the members on here in UK had instructions, but only in Japanese.
Not sure on cost and complexity either.

Re: 5Eat, legacy.

I'd Imagine it would be very similar swap as the PhaseII 4eat. Issue is, do you want to spend the ching on the parts and work 100hours with making the wiring work right??

Re: 5Eat, legacy.

A 5eat would be nice, but wouldn't that end up being a 4eat +1 type of problem child? I think the biggest barrier to using a newer AT like this is the weight issues the SVX suffers from. Yeah, the wiring would be a PITA. Once that was sorted I wouldn't think it'd be a problem. I'd think overloading a transmission that's not overbuilt would be tantamount to pulling the pin on a grenade and using scotch tape to hold the spoon down. Sooner or later the tape will let go and cause a catastrophe.

Just my 2 cents, YMMV *grin*

Most of the newer Subies are just about as heavy as the SVX is, or am i misinterpreting this?
