Re: I think I broke my car.
Is your battery held down properly? If this hard shift is in fact what caused it and a jump fixes is, I would suspect a poor connection somewhere.

Re: I think I broke my car.
I upgraded the alternator wiring with 4g lines, along with the battery ground. I don't think it has any connection issues. I'll try banging the alternator with a hammer a bit, I know how weird these cars are under the hood. I sometimes have to tap my abs box to get it to stop running on its own, so I'm pretty open-minded to weird solutions like that lol.

I might suggest that all of us that don't have a volt meter should splurge and get one and carry it in your car. Plug the leads in correctly and leave them plugged in. When we have a problem that needs a voltage test, we will be ready! If this happened to my car I would have tested the voltage output as soon as the Jump started the motor before I moved the car from that location. I always have a test meter with me in the trunk, but I leave my sledge hammer at home! Keith |

But id also bring the hammer, in case the alternator IS bad, its a tried and true way of getting it to charge again until repairs can be made. An old school mechanic showed me this when i was in high school, stranded miles from home with no tools or alternator. After we pinged it, the alternator charged for 4 months before the light came back on and I replaced it. |
