Burred?

Hey Ron,

If there is even a hint of a scantily dressed bird on this trip, it would ruffle a few feathers in the Devine household.

Scotch we can do, women we can't do!

Your mission, Joe, should you choose to accept it, is to talk to other obsessive car nerds, all male, with no birds on the horizon.

This message will self-destruct in ten seconds.

Apres meet

We have had the UK Anniversary meet. Brilliant!!!!

Everyone had a great time. Unfortunately Ron, no lingerie clad blondes or featherless birds, there were children present. In a car nut meeting, all present are children!!

Won't go over all happenings, Phil Hill has promised to do that.
We had 9 cars in total, 3 grey cars, 3 Black over Claret, 2 [verrrry nice] Pearlies[black over] and one black. Now Angie who owns the black car says it is actually red. It has red pearlescent bits in the paint blend, but you need strong sunlight, eagle eyesight, the correct angle, and some imagination to see it. For the sake of the numbers, we will allow Angie's car to be called red, so that makes red cars including Clarets in the majority by one, 4 cars.

Regards photos, souvenirs etc, Phil is already working on the digital images. Mine are photographic, so not processed yet. We will quickly have some images posted up, and as soon as possible, have a selected image added to a t-shirt for any who are interested.

More news later,

Joe

The, paint on the black, is called "Black Mica" by the factory. This, due to the mix of dust from the actual "rock" being blended into the paint (which was what Subaru used in all of their "pearlescent" paints). It generally gives that "rainbow" effect, if you look closely, but, on the black, tends to give it a more "reddish" cast.

I'm looking forward to the photos.

Ron.
Nearly ended up with a mug-shot driving up the M5 after the meet. Damn car only really starts accelerating after the ton.

PS Joe, the colour is Liquid Silver

Long John Silver?

OK Andy, that is probably the paint appellation from the factory, and if Angie and Phil's car is red, yours is definitely silver.

It is however, a thankfully dark silver. The later one-colour cars are a bright silver, don't know the factory name, but very bright. I am complimenting your car when I call it grey.[OK, metallic grey] as the really bright silvers can look uncomfortably close to the colour and consistency of aluminium paint.

If yours was a Renault colour, they would call it Pearlescent Tungsten, a much more manly title than poncy Liquid Silver.

Joe

Pictures in my locker (at last.........)

OK everyone,

This is almost a repeat of a post in the European forum, for which I apologise.

I've put some photo's from the UK meet into my Personal locker. There's only a few at the moment. The written "review" is still ongoing, I'll post it up as soon as it's finished.

Anyone who is interested in a CD containing all the pics I have, please drop me an e-mail or something.

Phil.

EXCELLENT PHOTOS PHIL!! Makes me even more jealous of not being there. What would be great is if you'd take the group picture and add a "caption" with names, or add names to the photo, over the heads of people. Although, it was easy to pick out one particular person, but, only because they were standing beside an "intercontinental ballistic plum."

Phil Hill,

Thank you for posting the UK 10th Anniv. SVX Meet photos in your locker. I enjoyed them very much. I especially like the Romany Cafe 1 photo and the farm photo.
There is a silver SVX in the farm photo. It seems to have headlight washers on the front bumper. Was this available in Europe? It was not available in the US.

In the Romany Cafe1 photo there is a blue car in the backgroud. It is driving on the "wrong" side of the road.

Thanks again.

I was surprised to see only one spoiler in the lot (Phil and Belha?). The numbers are usually (if you'll forgive the crude expression) "arse about face" here in the states.

I really liked the photos, despite the lack of hood sprawled cheesecake. Joe - Is your plum pudding an original Suby color (colour) or an add-on? Looks good to me. The little black warts on the bumpers that Larry mentioned - are they headlight squirters, or maybe fog blasters?
Send T-Shirts when ready.

Ron.

I think they are, but I can't find the button, or a filler bottle

Headlamp washers ????

Pleased you guys liked the pictures. I have some more to post, please be patient. Likewise for the review of the event, I've started it, but am having to fit it in around work

As far as I am aware standard UK spec included headlamp wash, no rear spoiler (although some interest was expressed about obtaining one.....), no third brake lamp although again this is not thought hard to retro-fit, sunshine roof, no rear wheel steering, optional machine-guns in front headlamps....... no, that was the Aston DB5

Driving on the wrong side Larry ?? Nooooo, that's the right, or correct side as we call it.......... Or was the diver simply distracted by the cool cars at the cafe ??

Aredubjay, I'll include a key as to who's who if you like, or add an anotated picture tomorrow. I've got a real good close up picture of Joe I'm going to post soon........

Phil

Larry they all drive on the wrong side over here. It's so dangerous, I have to drive the same side with them at times.

Yes, UK cars generally arrive with lots of goodies, I think all had headlight power washers. They also had something much more desirable, GLASS headlight lenses.

Joe
