Bad Choice

In reality the AK47 would be a bad choice. A better choice would be something in the 5.56 (.223) or 7.62 (.308) simply because of the availability of ammunition.

I kind of like my little mini-14 (.223) and 200 rounds is just a couple hours shooting. Start at least with 2000 rounds.

Forget guns; I'd want me one of those autogyros like in "The Road Warrior."

Significant Technical Input Registered SVX
My 9mm Taurus (weighs 2 lb, .6 oz) and five 15 round clips, and a box of 50, 9m weigh 6 lb, 2.8 oz.
My two knife set, one bear knife, one for just guttin weighs 1lb, 4.6 oz.

2 rolls tp in a bag weighs 5.4oz.

So before fresh sox, ( @2.6oz ea) and packs of ham (@15.4oz) and the manditory sleeping bag, heavy coat, and fishing net or first aid kit, I'm up to
7.75 lbs!

20#s will not cover it.

Not counting the clothes I'd wear, I'd take:

-Bowie Knife
-12 Guage Shotgun w/50 rounds of both buckshot and 50 of rifled slugs. (9mms are practical and lighter, but when it absolutely, positively has to die in a fraction of a second, there's no substitute. It also functions as lockpick )
-Lighter fluid + lighter
-CB Radio

If I have room, fire crackers. If it's the end of the world, I'll need some way to amuse myself...

I think something like super glue (for closing up wounds) and 100 mph tape should be included (just in case you gotta tie someone up or tape your flashlight to your gun). Oh, steel wool and a 9 volt to start a fire.

A 12' legnth of 1/2" hose...

Drop one end in the generator intake, the other end up the dogs arse, and make electric power from methane

The room mate said he woke up in the middle of the night lastnight to a horible smell in his room then his arse made a noise, so perhaps he could help from time to time as well, if the dog is having a down day

I'd find a psychotic lunatic with an AK47 to gaurd the place

Other than that I'd just stay at home, grow food, raise critters to eat, and grow something to make large ammounts of plant oil and alcahol to fuel various tractors, trucks, and tools.

I might also devolop and market a service that uses poneys to deliver emails and SVX.net posts on paper in an express manor
