Has anyone put a double din size nav head unit in their SVX? and for those who have, can I get an update on how you like it? I am looking at getting one, as i not only want the Nav but bluetooth as well.

Magellan 4040 in my SVX this past weekend and it also does the blue tooth thing. It works great for my needs.

Haven't gotten one yet, but check out the Pioneer AVIC-D3. It is a double DIN mount, but the screen is fixed and doesn't flip forward like most of the NAV's I've seen. The DVD slot is located above the screen. Don't have to worry about clearance with our flip down stereo cover.

Plus, Crutchfield is throwing in a backup camera with it this month. Now THAT would be pretty sweet!

I would suggest the D3 as well, or if you have an extra $1K you're willing to throw at it, the Z2 has a full moving screen and internal hard drive. The D3 requires you to pre-program your trip on your computer and load the DVD into the nav unit to download the info. You can't program a trip in the car. Not without mods anyway.

I've done an Avic-D1. Other than that particular unit being a disapointment (Ipod integration particularly), it's pretty good.

The fit behind the door is adequate - the movement of the door is a little obstructed, and you have to be careful with the tilt and inserting disks.

If I had it to do again, I would definitely go with the "Z" series. Much better, and it looks as though it will fit behind the door better - no knob and slightly different screen dimensions.

I've been looking at nav units for quite some time. Unfortunantly, every site that makes you enter vehicle says there's like 2 available for the SVX, when I know you can cram just about any double din unit in. However, I don't think my SVX will be going on many long trips, so I'll probably put one in my legacy before I put one in my SVX. Only problem is, as low as the radio is in the legacy, you have to really look down at it. I'd much rather be looking more head on at it.

Would love to see what it looks like from a distance. Does the door close?

How about reception? Where did you mount the antenna? Did you mount the optional steering wheel controls?

I notice the trim piece on the door is missing. Will it not fit?

Not a big fan of installs that don't allow the trim pieces to all fit back on. But I suppose the features of this unit outweigh that a bit.

Yes

Trim piece on door is broken--did fit without out problems. GPS ant is on rear deck just in front of rear wiper area--works great.122007_0811a.jpg Here is the "far" view.
