Need a little info. on my SVX

I just aquired a 1994 Laguna Blue FWD today. It has some unusual things I wanted to get some details on. It's build date is 1-93 and the VIN says it is an X32 optioned car(which I can't seem to find mention of). It has power seat belts, NO pass. side airbag, and has no sunroof, security, heated mirrors, or ABS. It has a legacy FWD tranny in it that was just put in and the only reason it doesn't run is a wiring problem which will be fixed soon enough. So, My question is: How rare is this?? The only thing that really throws me is the
X32, The pass. side airbag not there, And the power seat belts.

How rare?

It's so rare that none of us would have it!

If it has the cloth seats, its probably a 94 LE (Early build date for the 94 model year) The LE retained some leftover things from 92/93 production such as the power seatbelts and the single airbag , which were revised during 1994 with the L, LS, and LSi models later that year featuring dual airbags and manual seat belts.

Hope this helps.

Yep, It has the same seats you gave away at Reading. Thanks for some info.

Jason,
How does this car look? He never sent any directions to see it. I am sure you got a deal on this one as he needed the moved before it cost him big bucks. Is there rust on this car?

Yes, it is just an early 94. You can find the info on the VIN Code in the How-To Locker.

The car is pretty filthy and tore up right now, But overall I think it can be fixed and cleaned up nicely. It has just a little rust along the doors and needs the fenders replaced due to bad paint, But thats about it. It's definitely a fixxer upper, But a fair price since it came with a parts car too.

Good luck with the car I am looking forward to seeing it when you’re all done. I know you want to travel with this one but what other plans are you planning on doing with this car? Has, Marty seen it? I am just anxious to see the final product once you’re done. I do so love the laguna just as much as the pearlie’s.

Actually, I've had some thoughts of turning this car into my racer since it is so much lighter than my LS-L. I don't really know anything yet though. I'll just go one step at a time. Once it's fixed it might be for sale, But for how unique and rare it is and how much work it needs it probably won't go for less then $3,000. The claret(It can't be bordeaux because it's a 92 I think) I haven't seen personally yet, But I'm told that it is wrecked up and unfixable, So it will be another parts car to help fix up Crispy and the Laguna unless Paladin wants it as he was showing interest in it. Trust me, When it's done it will be a whole different car and I'll definitely get pics of it. Right now it isn't much to look at though as it needs much work. I always wondered how the most neglectful people end up with the most beautiful colored SVX's.

The LE is definitely the lightest stock SVX made, but I'm not sure that its "rarity" makes it anymore valuable. I had one for several years and definitely enjoyed it. I still say it was the fastest of any SVX that I have owned. It was just not quite as good in the curves and corners. Mine is still being enjoyed by a family member after over 200K miles and running strong.

Earl is entirely correct about the passenger airbag. A function of "when" manufactured instead of a particular model.

If you are going to make it an AWD racer you will have to add back some weight as it doesn't have the rear differential mounting subframe.

Yeah, I really like it and I'm about to go out and work on it in a minute. I know I'd be adding weight if I went AWD, But it would probably be worth it in traction, Especially if I supercharge it too. I can't wait to drive it and see how it does.

Oh wow. That's..wow. I had no idea that they actually changed the whole subframe. On my old FWD Legacy, the mounting points were still there... I would've thought they'd have just changed the transmission...
