information on oil pump maintenance for motor?
replace seal and what else any input appreciated!

replace the front main seal is all that is necessary.
access is behind the front main crank pulley - you have to pull the timing belt to get to it.

You should think about replacing the timing belt as long as you are already in there. Water pump isn't too expensive either, you could do it right and replace everything while you have it all pulled apart.

Front End Job
I just did my timing belt (power enterprises) in the WRX after noticing a small seal leak in my radiator (95k miles). While I had everything apart I replaced all my idler pullies, radiator (koyo aluminum), tensioner pully, water pump, thermostat (160 deg), timing belt, oil pump (cosworth), cam seals, crank pully, alternator pully, power steering pully (unorthadox aluminum on all), and crank seal (the seal being referred to in the previous post). While I had everything apart it is simple to just get it all done at once. Since you already did your water pump, there is no need to do that, but you might consider replacing all of your idler pullies. I'm going to when I finish by build.
