Rear discs are different between countries!
So, finally got back to NZ to put the new discs (ordered from Race Concepts) on my car - and discovered:
The new rear discs from the US are non-ventilated, and my JDM spec discs are VENTILATED! Argggh! No need to mention they are completely different thicknesses. What would you all suggest? Put the fronts on anyway? I assume the rear calipers are different as well, haven't actually pulled them to bits yet to see if there is any differences between them and the diagrams on Subaruparts website. Suggestions? Matt

If NZ-spec SVXs had ventilated rear discs, I am at a loss to explain why my AU-spec SVX has solid rear discs!!!! Jason.

You show that your car has done only 100,000 Km, but you appear to be involved in a lot restoration work. My car also imported like yours, now shows 156,000 Km and to all intents and purposes, is in perfect original condition. The odometer reading was confirmed by Japanese service receipts, I found in the car after purchase and were not known to the dealer. The discs/rotore on mine are certainly not ventilated/drilled/slotted and are in good original condition. Could it be that the odometer reading on your car is not genuine, and the brake discs/rotors are not original?

From what I have come to learn is that AU spec cars have vented rear brakes

And here in Canada I have twice walked out of the local parts store (not the dealer) with Eurorotor Brand vented disks only to find the mistake later. Strange that they would carry these as they are all solid in N.A. To bad because the quality looked better than the stock solid ones. If i could get the correct calipers for the vented I would change.

Tom, the AU cars I've looked at are solid rears?
hence I used the JDM venteds on the rally car. Matt, the caliper is different, so a swap to solids would need the solid calipers, and in my view, would be a step backwards. They are the same disc as the WRX's, just with a different PCD, so one option could be that you get WRX ones and redrill, or alternatively, DBA offers blank rotors that you can get drilled yourself. Can't get the right calipers here in Canada for the vented rotors. Legacy GT has same size vented rotors I think? Anyway I tried some used calipers from a Legacy GT and they did not fit. The calipers were ok, but the bracket is not wide enough. Anyone need some used Legacy GT calipers

so the mounting holes were not wide enough?? did the offset of the rotor and everything match?? If so, I may be up for them

The mounting holes were good. It was the part of the bracket that goes over the disk, if you know what I mean. I remember I could not just swap the brackets, I just can't rember why at the moment.
