You should probably check your speedometer accuracy, then... or check to see if you have the elusive JDM turbo version.

Arrow Turbo

I havent seen a turbo under my hood. How would you check for JDM.

All these people knocking the speedometer. How inaccurate do you think these gauges are. Do you think that the gauge is 10-15 mph off???? or more???

I have been driving a looong time. The gauges are fairly accurate and, like I said the car was beggin for more. Could have gone faster

I have never heard of this elusive turbo model. I thought the touring package was the top o' the line for factory output. I am interested in this turb. Do you have any pics or links plz

Arrow Alcyone

So, did they manufacture a line of just Alcyone. With the tail light and emblem or is that just all aftermarket stuff?

Do you have the breakdown ratios for all 6 gears? What is your final drive ratio? It seems pretty low.

So Tom who did your swap have the same ratio tranny as you now?

Yes, the speedometer can easily be off by that much. Over 100 mph as they come from the factory, they are usually off by close to that much. Lighter cars with less drivetrain loss, 100+ more ponies, and similar coefficients of drag, still don't accelerate very fast after 100 mph. Look at LS1 cars, they can get up to 150 without much trouble, but after 130 or 140, they need plenty of time and room to keep going faster.

150mph, 4.44 gears, and plenty of rpm left?

When I try and work that out, I get around 6,400 rpm.

Putting the car on a chasis dyno to check speedometer accuracy works very well. I have seen dozens of cars go through this procedure and almost all are 10% off by 45-50 mph. My Civic was actually the closest to accurate I have seen (only 3 mph low at 110 mph indicated). However, when I changed my tires and ran it again, I was close to 5 mph under indicated by 75. Both sets of tires were stock sized as well.

That equation for power required to overcome wind resistance is also quite accurate. With a stock 4EAT, EG33, and the 3.54 final drive, actually hitting 150 mph should be nearly impossible. Sonar's speed seems to be tough to hit but within the realm of possibilty with a 3.70 final drive... and I thought he was drafting when he got there.

Mike, you were really at 7300 rpm at 135 mph? I thought the 6 speed had the same 6th gear ratio as the 5 speed's 5th, and with the 4.11's and at 7k... it would be hitting around the 155 mph mark.

I havent accually been over 120. But at 120 I didnt have much left. The JDM 6-speed has a different 5th and 6th. Cruising at 75MPH I turn 3500RPM in 6th. I also have aftermarket wheels and tires, which means my speedo is off. I just dont know how much or which way.

No I dont have the gear break down. Although I would like to find it, and yes Tom has the same tranny.

I believe all of LANs chips raise the Redline fuel cut out to 7300rpm. Ok Ithink I'm caught up with this thread now. Time to move n to the next.

That means at 7300rpm you would be going about 156mph.
