Custom exhaust pricing

today I was quoted $600 for a custom exhaust. $500 for labor and 100 for piping. I already have the muffler and tips and its only the secondary cat-> back. Is this unreasonable? I think its ungodly expensive to just weld and beld some piping.

That is ungodly expensive to just weld and bend some piping. The shop I use charges like $70 an hour. This wouldn't take more than a few hours.

What kind of exahaust design have you got in mind? If it's similar to stock there should be no problem, but if it's different they might be kinda weird at you. :/

For those prices you may as well go with Stebro.

Stebro has advantages over the Magnaflow?

Go to some place that is local. Don't go to any big name places as they will RAP3 you. Midas quoted me $473 for the same job as a local shop only wanted about $240.

Good Luck!

P.S. this is for the same setup you have in mine (camaro muffler).

$600 labor for a cat-back is way too expensive, especially since they are probably going to use crush bend tubing. That's like a full day to do a few crush bends and weld up the pipes. It should only take maybe four hours. My header-back system was built in one day from mandrel bends.

Yes completely unreasonable. My cat back cost $325 including muffler and tips.

I just paid $630 for my duals. It included 2 cats and a dual-in-dual-out flowmaster 60 and chrome tips with 2 1/2in pipe all the way out.

Unless there doing stainless mandral bent pipe go somewhere else.

Just have them cut the stock pipe at the rear axle. Then all they have to do is bend an inlet pipe from there around to the muffler and then do the tips. Thats how my original setup was.
