side exit exhaust mod

I know this is going to get hammered but what the hell,I am going to try and run a side exhaust similar to the cobra R mustang.I already know the svx has a NASTY rumble with no mufflers so if I can find the right tips to blend to the contours of the car its a done deal.People already think its a v8 because of the rumble it has now but with side exhaust this really would be nasty,oh yeah the pipes would be on both sides of the car.I will run it for a while until I can get a skyline front clip pretty cheap, well this is all dreams for now parts are a bear to find.I can get the rear cutouts filled in if I KEEP THE side exhaust.

Sounds like awesome fun, and a quick way to get a nifty skirt mod free.

I kid, i kid, good luck, its your car, and I completly support you doing what you want to with it.

Yup, that was the problem the other person had, kept melting the side skirts.

I'm thinking it could be done if you modify the fender with some custom metal sheeting around the exhaust?

I thought it was highwayufo.

Yeah, side plates could be cool. Like fire breathers, and more often... ricers who don't need them put over the pipe on the rear bumper. Aluminum would be better for the heat wouldn't it? cut it, paint it black with the hightemp stuff, pop rivits. Not sure how pretty it would be, but if you could match the clear protective sticker it shouldn't be too bad.

I think it would look WAI better with dual exit pipes on each side, slanted back at an angle.

Whenever I pull up next to a truck with one of it's exhaust pipes pointing directly at me I get somehwat irritated.

I like the twin tip idea, with them angle cut to to in a line. Actually, i like this idea quite a bit. i might just have to alter my exhaust idea slightly

Yeah, definitely wasn't me... My buddy and I tried to do it on a e30 325i... but didn't end up happening.

The setup pictured above is pretty "all show no go" kinda thing...

To do it right, use mandrel bends, make sure you use a stock, or slightly further from stock location for a resonator. You can not have a muffler, but I'm not sure if you'd end up liking the sound. I think some duals on each side could look good, but because of the unibody of the SVX, you can't put it through any plastic unless you added some side skirts. could look decent, but it wouldnt' be like the mustangs just because the mustang was designed for the exhaust to exit there.

haha you know what, I had this done to my 86 camry, duals on both sides at an angle, slanted tips. It actually made the boxy car look really trick, sounded like one of those hole in the exhaust toyota pick-ups though .
