CD broke inside the player
when i stopped for coffee this morning, i left a CD in the OE Panasonic player and closed the cover. came out, started the car and heard the CD trying to eject behind the closed cover. this has happened before and i've managed to get the cover open, which results in bending the CD down severely as the cover drops. every other time, the CD would felx enough but this one broke. i ended up with about 1/3 in my hand and 2/3 of the disc still in the player. that part is apparantly not in contact with the transport mechanism 'cause it makes noise like it's trying to eject but can't grab the remainder of the disc.
i did searches here using several different search parameters and read the process for removal of the entire unit but i didn't find anything about how to extract this piece of broken-off CD. anybody got a method to sneak this thing out w/o having to do the whole de-install process? i'd be grateful for a workable answer. |

Can you use the broken part of the CD to attempt to rotate the piece still in the player? That may give the rollers enough grip to pull the rest of it out.

Time for a new CD player.
If not, time to leave the hatch open while it's on? I never close it.

I never leave mine open. I'd rather people not know what kind of stereo I have in my car.

If this is a problem with the CD player I would just leave it open while the power is on.

Needle Nose pliers worked for me when I snapped one. If not, low-profile tweezers ought to do it.

If you don't get it out by tonight (meet) I will have my sledge hammer along.
No, not hit the player, but to flatten out your hand so you can reach in to get it out.

Try using a credit card.....while pushing the eject button, insert the card into the cd slot to see if you can feel the cd,then try sliding the card across the opening.Maybe the broken portion of the cd is not inline with the eject mechanism, and sliding the card across will move the cd so it will catch
