ABS Light/ECU

My ABS light came on. I checked the fuses under the dash and under the hood and all are OK. Should I replace the ABS ECU? If so, what is a fair price for a used one? Also, does this mean that my AWD isn't working?

You can check the ABS ECU for trouble codes, to find the cause of the trouble. I think it is under the drivers seat? Woun't affect the AWD.

The procedure for checking and interpreting the codes is in the SVXipedia:

Thanks for the suggestions. I pulled out the front passenger seat, drove more than a minute at more than 19 mph, and the LED showed one blink. It wasn't short or long. How do I know if it is error code 1 or error code 10? Either one...what is my next step? Thanks.

It's code 1. Code 10 = 10 blinks. The ABS doesn't use short/long blinks.

That's funny. The SVXipedia you referred me to says it has long and short blinks. Long=10 and short=1 i.e., One long and six short = 16.

If it is Code 1, do I have to pull each wheel to check for the broken or shorted solenoid valve curcuit?

Feedback done. Thanks.

OK----Cananyone help me with Trouble Code 1?? What do I have to do next to locate the culprit. Are the broken or shorted solenoid valve circuits located in each wheel or are they under the hood with the ABS unit?

The solenoid valves are in the ABS unit under the hood. They turn off the line to the wheel that is locking up. You can check that the valve is operating or not, by checking at the connector that is behind the kick panel near the door. There are three connectors there. The long Black, two row, 20 pin one is the ABS. If you short terminal 2 to ground, which is the second from the left, top row, you should hear the solenoid click at the ABS unit under the hood.

You need to have the ign on to check, once you have checked one, you have to turn the ign off and on again to check again.

The other solenoids are;
Code 1, Left front wheel,.connector 2.
Code 2, RFW , connector, 11.
Code 3, RRW, connector, 12.
Code 4, LRW, connector, 3.

Top row of the connector plug is No.1 to No.9
Bottom row is No.10 to 20.

Harvey.
