Sat radio questions

I have a few questions for you audio junkies out there.

For those of you who listen to Howard Stern, you prob already know how I feel. But for those of you who don't live in NYC it gets worst. Stern leaves for sat radio this DEC... But for everyone who doesn't know as he leaves for sat, the radio station, 92.3 Kroc is changing formats from rock to TALK, OH JOY. Which means NYC, the LARGEST and LOUDEST city in the world will no longer have a rock station.

Now here are where my questions come.

1. Do either sat provider make a deck that is mp3 player compatible ( iPod can rot in hell for all I care)

2. Does anyone know of a cassette deck that is Sirius ready.

3. Are Sirius and XM receivers cross compatible. Sirius receiver on a XM deck or the other way around or something like that. ( the "tech" at bestbuy said its possible but I have heard stories about bestbuy car audio shops)

4. Does anyone own or know someone who owns the Dual XDMR7700 wit the "iPlug". The web site is useless, and the people at bestbuy are even worst. Dual XDMR7700

5. Where can I get the wire harness for the SVX, what web site???

I thank anyone who can help me. If not oh well... Happy Holidays

- Joe

i considered a Sirius unit, but then when i thought about it, i didn't want to spend $13/month and probably only listen to a few channels (rock, classical, comedy, some sports?).

i was also against iPODs, and bought a Creative Labs 40Gb MP3 player for a lot less than an iPOD. here is the problem - its a PITA to use in the car. you need to hook up the AC adapter, hook up the audio jack, and mount it somehow. you also can't see song info on the little screen while driving.

so i bought an iPOD Video. i have about 100 CD's loaded on it @ 256k sampling, and still have a ton of space left. it mounts in a dock that plugs into the cig lighter, and the audio cable plugs into the dock. to use it, just pop it in the dock. i had a controller for my particular aftermarket stereo that allowed you to control it with the head unit and display song info on it, but the playlist function didn't work right with the new iPOD Video, so i used the dock thing.

you can find many aftermarket stereos that are iPOD compatible, or use that Harmon Kardon (iDrive?) device to control and display iPOD info. other MP3 players, while cheaper, aren't worth the PITA to use in the car.

just some thoughts to consider before you go the satellite route.

Simply put - NO.

Two unrelated companies using different Satellites.

Do a search sirius + xm.

As for mp3 player, I have an RCA Lyra audio/video jukebox. I dont mount it at the moment, I just leave it on my lap and leave it on random. But as I see it i only use it in my car, or at work while im driving. XM has a reciever thats sat ready + has a cassett jack, which is cool and all. But the whole point of getting sirius would to be Stern... ehh I guess I still have to do some more shoping around.
