I have the snorkus I removed from my car. Replaced it with Dayle's intake pipe then wrapped it with pie insulation. I'll measure it and draw it up first for the CFD, then send it to you. But, I'm also concerned about the inlet condition for the throttle bodies. It's just a little plenum that receives the flow from the snorkus. Doesn't really channel the high velocity air directly into the throttle body inetl. Probably lose some pressure there.

no question, then again, there's really no room for anything other than a plenum...just have to figure a way to move the engine forward a couple of inches

I think that this intake pressure drop discussion is beginning to look like a full-on thread-jacking, and I'm about to contribute to it. :-)) I hooked up my manometer again today and went for a spin. I tried two different ports on the intake system. First, I tried the port on the driver-side of the intake plenum that is used by the auxillary air control system. Several WOT runs to 6500 rpm in 2nd or 3rd gear generated about -25 to -30 mBar (roughly -0.4 to -0.45 psi). Next I hooked up the manometer to the port that points down at about a 45 deg angle on the intake pipe near where the pipe transitions to the plenum. That port is used by the PCV system. Several WOT runs to 6500 rpm generated about -45 mBar (about -0.67 psi). My only guess for the stronger vacuum on that port is that there is a venturi effect with the port entering the intake pipe at a 90 deg angle.

In all the runs, I was hitting max vacuum by the time the tachometer read 6000 rpm. This pretty much corresponds with my MAF voltage measurements which level off at about 5500-6000 rpm.

Mychailo,
thread jacking? who, us??
hey, can you hook your manometer up to the port in the air box where your MAF bypass line goes and do the same runs to see what the delta is between that location and the two in the plenum you just got measurements for? I think this may be all 'slade needs for his work.

I don't see this as true hijacking fellas as it's realted to n/a power upgrades. Now if we were discussing the best stain remover for the carpets - that'd be another story!

-Chike (still thinking about those shorty headers that Napa posted)

Notice he left us hanging without telling us what the best stain remover happens to be.

Yeah you are right, it's not good to leave an unanswered question in any thread in this forum. We want to know Chike

Very funny guys!

-Chike

P.S. The best stain remover hands-down is to never eat or drink in your SVX!

I'd really like to do some kind of headers in '06 (and make a few adjustments to my exhaust system). Not sure if I'll make them 36" long as Svxfiles was told by several different sources that 28-30" would be ideal for our engines. Other than that the stage 2v5 will complete my n/a upgrades.

Then I'll probably turn my attention to the suspension in my car (and start a new thread).

I was hoping you'd say that. I didn't feel like pulling my engine.

I went the other way around Chike, I did everything from looks to lightweighing to suspension except for engine mods
2006 is the date, parts in progress
