Or take a different approach...

Instead of targetting a specific job, take a good look around at various companies that do stuff you might find interesting. Then do your best to get a foot in the door doing just about anything that makes you a full-time employee at that specific company. Transfers within a company are much easier than coming in from the outside - the folks have a chance to get to know you and your work habits, while you have a chance to learn the internal culture and various quirks specific to that corporation. You can also get to know folks in the department you want to move into and ask about upcoming opportunities before they are posted or advertised.

Guess it's kinda like what Electrophil wrote

This made me think of something else. Go apply at every employment service out there that are "employer paid". These days, most are employer paid anyway.

These guys pull in about 7K to place an engineer depending on the position. AppleOne out here in Vegas gets $11,500 for every engineer that is willing to relocate to......ready? to Phoenix to draw transistors. You might say they are uhhhh.....motivated.... to get you placed. Also consider engineering sales. Big dollar position that with the right personality, doesn't require engineering experience. Warning though.... Once you step on that plank, that's where you will stay.

Verizon does have great coverage in IL and FL. I switched to Cingular and I am getting crappy coverage in my own house. Outside is spotty too.

Verizon's coverage sucks...

in the 1 block that I live in...

in the middle of LA...

and nowhere else...

How do you guys have such great service everywhere EXCEPT the 200 sq. ft. that I call my living space?

<-- wishes he could go back to Verizon
