AC idler pulley

When the weather is the hottest, that's when your AC idler pulley will seize

Luckily my local NAPA has the bearing in stock. I'm going to change the Alternator/PS Pump idler pulley as long as I'm taking the belt off.

195K on the original AC idler bearing. I guess I can't complain.

I wonder if I should gut the alternator and change the bearings in there right away.

At least it wasn't the ALT/PS idler, then you'd have been walking in the heat. I had an idler seize on my GL approaching 200,000 mi.; replacing them (or the bearings) well before that milestone is on my SVX preventive maintenance list.

Screw that, I would have been driving on battery with the AC blasting until it wouldn't go anymore

I wish I had known about replacing the bearings on that pulley. I just bought a new one from Subaruparts.com for about $50 with all the shipping.

I will say once again, I had both tensioner pulley bearings fail on me within a short amount of time. The other bearings are still going strong.
