Definative way to determine if you have AWD?

i just picked up a 95' SVX, and was wondering if there is an easy way to do this? other than looking underneath the car or checking the VIN#

Use the VIN and run it on CarFax.com. It will tell you if it is FWD or AWD.

or it says in the vin number, i think if you have a H in the VIN or something. earthworm's site http://svx-iw.com/ has the tutorial on it.

EDIT: heres the direct link: http://www.svx-iw.com/svxiw/article/?article=129 it is if you have an H in your VIN right before the 6 digits.

What?

Actually very easy to peek under the rear and see if you have axle shafts running from the center of the car to each rear wheel.

I looked under mine and saw the axle shafts and the main drive shaft to the rear wheels......easier than looking under carfax.

I wouldn't trust the vin because some people burn their trans and replace it with a fwd. A friend of mine has a converted fwd.

Whether you have AWD and whether it's WORKING are completely different!

If your VIN has an "H", you have AWD. This applies to all SVX's.

Physically the cars are indentical from the outside......you can only determine the transmission type by looking under the car or checking the VIN. Subaru never used any type of "AWD" badge on this model, making it impossible to tell just by looking at the body.

Some people, such as myself, have added "AWD" stickers to their windows/bodies.

How can anything be easier than looking under the car?
