No sound clips yet. I still have to squash a heat shield rattle. And actually, I could have done this system a little better. It would have been better if I had placed the y-pipe another foot back and used longer resonators before the y-pipe. With the SVX motor, 2-into-1 exhaust systems have a definite tendency to resonate badly at a certain rpm range. The further back the y-pipe is placed, the lower the engine rpm where the resonance will hit. Keeping the y-pipe 6 inches or more behind the driveshaft carrier bearing will keep the resonance peak below 2000 rpm. The longer resonators will more effectively deaden the resonance.

Sold my Stebro to Chicane about 9 months ago.

That is exactly what I want to do with my exhaust. I think the glasspacks in place of the precats (where I have straight pipe now) will kill the 2500 rpm buzz and maybe get me some more low end.

Just posted a note on my exhaust system above your post. If you can move the y-pipe further back, that will help too. The Vibrant Racing resonators are very nice quality and they are relatively cheap. And they are only 3.5" OD which is good for clearance. Smallest ID they sell is 2 1/4". I used 2.5" to give an exhaust wave reflection.

Mychailo,
Gee, that rear sway bar looks familiar

So, are the glass packs roughly where the stock secondary cat is located?

Did you keep your "custom" expansion box in this system?

Do the Borlas exit through the stock exhaust tips?

-Bill ("refined" stock exhaust scheduled for 5/25.... )

Looks awesome! I've been thinking about re-doing the exhuast, but I think my muffler of choice would be B&B Tri-flow. I like the Borla, too, though. I can't wait to hear it. Please post a clip ASAP.

So is the Y-pipe a triangle shaped expansion chamber, or is it just two pipes coming together at an angle with a triangle shaped cover/heat shield?

I placed a "resonator (glasspack)" in my system just a little upstream of where that Y-pipe is and it did nothing for resonance. Are there any companies that sell a true resonator or expansion chamber?"

Yep, swaybar is working great. Gotta get a production run going.

Yes, the glasspacks before the y-pipe are in the location of the OEM secondary cat. These glasspacks are acting as the expansion box. They are 2.5" ID. Its not as large as I would like, but its better than nothing. The y-pipe also should act a little like a secondary expansion box. Its a dual 2.5" inlet with a 3" outlet. It stays at 3" for about 6" and then necks back down to 2.5" ID. Exhaust tips are not OEM. IIRC, they are Magnaflow brand tips, ... slight oval shape.

Here is what this y-pipe looks like:

Its a very well-made and well-designed y-pipe.
