Exclamation tranny help needed

my trans. is throwing a code for the line pressure solenoid and when i put the shifter in 3rd it's like neutral until i hit the gas then it goes like normal. also, when it gets down to idle with the shifter in 3rd and in motion it starts bumping into 3rd gear repeatedly like it's trying to engage and can't. how hard is the line press. solenoid to fix? other than 3rd gear though the tranny seems to work just fine.theres no prob for as long as i leave it in 4th.HELP!

The line pressure is controled by Duty Solenoid "A". It is located on the top of the valve body. I.E. to replace it you must remove the valve body.
I can give you a manual that explains what it does but the file is to big for an atachment. PM me you e-mail and I will sent it to you.
Also try disconecting the dropping resistor behind the battery. It help regulate line pressure. With it unpluged it should shift harder, I think.

i tried unplugging the resistor and that was no help. it wouldn't be because the line press. solenoid is dead so it won't matter cause it's stuck at min. press.

If the A solenoid is dead, it should have maximum pressure, hard changes. The 3rd gear thing, seems like the overrun clutch is not engaging, no engine braking. Usually a throttle sensor, setting thing. Strange.

Harvey.

Red face

i've set the throttle position sensor at .500 volts on the dot. the tranny will sometimes overrun a little between 2nd and 3rd when i'm being very very light on the throttle but when i'm on it it seems to do just fine. works great under full throttle. good shifts and all. it seems to like to shift earlier than i like alot though when i don't have my foot in it. i don't know. HELP!

Measure the resistance of the resistor behind the battery. It should be no more than 20 ohms.

With it unhooked you will get transmission error 11 and the symptoms you see while in 3rd. If hooking it up doesn't help then the resistor is no good...hence measure the resistance

Sure... I have one. I can let it go reasonably.

But are you sure it's bad? The actual value of the resistor is 12 ohms. The tolerance is 9 to 15 ohms. Eyeballing it, it looks to be 30Watt. (Wow.. side thought.. Just how much current is this thing pulling?? Over 2amps on the high side?? It's a dropping resistor, so that's just wasted current. )

Anyway... The resistance is low enough, so if you don't have a meter, you can use a flashlight bulb and battery. If the light comes on at all it's good, cause they never short, or waver from tolerance much....They always open.

Wink

i checked it with my ohm meter and it read infinite. (you test between the two wires on the resistor, right?) so i'm assuming it's bad. how much could i get one of yours for including shipping to akron,oh.?
