Progressive customers beware!!!

Called my BRAT insurance co last night (on a business policy with Progressive) to see about dropping it and what it would cost to replace it with an F-250. The woman tells me that policy has been cancelled for non-payment. This is the first I had heard of it. Sent my payment check in their included envelope with my return add. on it Oct 31 (It was due Nov 15th). It was never cashed I now know by checking with the bank. When I asked why I wasn't contacted (a 6 year customer of Progressive) she said they don't do that because people leave all the time and it isn't cost effective to send a mailer out letting them know they are no longer covered. Granted, it is partly my fault as I don't always get around to balancing my check book in a timely manner but still had I not called I'd never know until I finally get around to checking my accounts.

I have now cancelled my bike policy with them as well. Not worth the horrible service for a few $$ a year.

Thanks for the heads-up. I use Progressive, and so far I've found their service to be okay. I've had to do some sort of complicated things with my insurance, too.

I'll never use a company where I don't have the agent's home and cell phone numbers.

And how many of agents will give ya HER numbers. . I put it under our business policy this time. They wouldn't let me do it with the BRAT. Something about it not being a real truck.

My power company no long issues late notices for non-payment. Ten days late; they can pull the plug. You know you check got lost in the mail when you get home to find the lights don't work.

I'm stuck with my EMC, but I think you did right to dump Progressive.

Like that matters. We were with Allstate for 15 years. The EXACT thing happened to us and we were cancelled and didn't even know it. Agent didn't call either, apparently he moved, retired, or died cause he was gone and new people were in his place at the office. We got no letter and our account wasn't assigned to another. After that incident, I went with Progressive and I've been very happy with them so far. They even paid for my towing from The Dragon back to Atlanta - $600.

They paid me more than what I paid for my car when I totalled it.

Oh yeah, after that incident of cancellation, I started paying with my credit card so that I get a transaction number along with skymiles.

I've had two different insurance companies and they have both been independent. They can give you all the big companies plus personal service. Best of all, they know who to bug every day at the insurance company if you aren't being treated right.

Unfortunatly all my agents have been old men Haven't found too many 25 year old female agents

5.0 V-8. Price was definately right. $4200 for a 96 F-250 X, 91.5k, one owner with NO options except an am/fm radio. Yes that means vinyl seats and no ac which will make me not want to drive it unless I have to (save by not getting 14mpg). Figure it should tow about 8k or so but am still trying to figure that out as I can't find the 5L in most listings. It is either the 4.9 inline 6 or the 5.8

5.0 isn't a big towing engine, it'll do the job, but not the best for moving 15k, but as I recall you were just looking to move small loads and get into the tax bracket a higher GVWR gave you, but better economy than the 5.8, 14mpg is awsome, my 4x4/460 gets 11 on the highway if I'm lucky, thats empty and it never is.

Yeah, I know it isn't the best for towing but with a tranny cooler it should do just fine with about 5-6k I should hope. It isn't like it'll be carrying that much more than maybe 20-30 times a year. I'm just hoping for 14. Not a clue what it will actually get. That's still a huge drop for me as my SVX currently is the gas hog of the bunch.
