New SVX in MD...
Hey ~ I just got an SVX and have been checking out the forum for a few days. Got it on ebay pretty cheap - good thing - because I'll be dumping some dough into it to even get past MD inspection!
Rear brake pads and rotors - FAILED (not too expensive tho) Battery hold down - FAILED (missing completely-luckily I found it in the trunk) Trans mounts - FAILED - (don't know how much they are) CV boots - FAILED - (that might be pricey) The inspection guy was like "Oh, by the way, the transmission is on it's deathbed." This, however, I've expected. New automatic or manual conv.? Hmmmmmmmm......? Going to email the ebay seller just to let him know he needs to examine his vehicles more carefully before he ads them as "mint" and SUPRISE! he's no longer a registered member of ebay - less than 3 days after I paid for the car. Annoying - yes, but I LOVE THIS CAR! The interior is pristine and all the gadgety bits work. I pulled about 15lbs of 90's cell phone wiring/boxes and crap out of this thing! I'll probably take it to the drag strip once just to see what kind of time it pulls, then autocross it a bit, but no wings, stickers or body kits for this baby. All black - black wheels and the darkest tint I can get without getting pulled over. Anyway, here it is...have a look at this kid in it's primal condition. Anyone else in MD/South Central PA out there? |

Congratulations and welcome to the club!
your rear wheel is on backwards had to be the first to tell you, Looks great though - most of the things you mentioned are easy to fix (other than the tranny) Looks like you have the right attitude about is - you expected some things to be bad and are prepared to fix them. Good luck with the autocross and dragstrip - let us know what kind of time it runs.

Try SubaruPartsGirl or Red95SVX on this site - they're both Subaru parts managers that will do right by you for the parts you need. Robyn (SubaruPartsGirl) is actually as Wilkens Subaru down in Glen Burnie, MD - not all that far from you (I think)

There are probably up to a dozen-ish Merryland members here within striking distance of Fredneck, which I assume is an endearing handle for Frederick. I bought my ebony SVX over three years ago from a Frederick inhabitant. Good luck with the beast.
Ron of ECMD.

Ron,
I think the MD SVXers ought to organize a one day (Sat.) Baltimore Inner Harbor SVX Meet. They would get SVXers from southeast PA, DE, MD, DC, NJ & northern VA. Late Oct. or early Nov. would be nice.

There's a gravel/old pavement lot on the south side of the Inner harbor (near the Seafood Resturant) that has the cheapest parking in the harbor area. |

That would be awesome. Don't think I can afford the whole weekend thing for reading but a one day in Bmore I could definetly do.

Cool! Now that it seems most of the midatlantic SVX freaks have crawled out of the woodwork, it's definitely time to meet up.
Ticket to the National Aquarium - $15 Lobster tail at the Rusty Scupper - $30 plus tip Playing "Cruisin" at the ESPN Zone with a lager and a big slice of cheesecake smuggled in from the Cheesecake Factory in your lap...PRICELESS! (of course, the beer/cheesecake combo is probably a girl thing - sorry if I grossed any fellers out) PS Uh, just don't make it too entirely soon or I'll have to be towed there... |
