slow starter

with about 126,000 miles, the svx hesitates when starting. It only lasts a couple of mico seconds and then the engine starts right up but I'm thinking the starter is going. Has anyone had a similar problem with the starter?

You'll have to describe the 'hesitation' a little better, but from what you've said already I doubt it's the starter motor.

Agreed. Start shopping around for a battery.

slow starter

the battery is only 2 yeras old on a 5 yera warranty and the auxillary volt meter I installed show a charge of 13.5 volts. The starter tries to start but has three or four slow turns of the motor and then spins fasster and the engine starts.

It shows a charge but that doesn't mean that the battery is storing the charge.

2 years is a long time for a battery in the SVX - I think I have to replace mine every 1.5 years or so. This car relies pretty heavily on the battery.

And a 5 year warranty doesn't really mean that they expect the battery to last that long. The warranty is prorated after a short period of time, so after a few years you don't get the full cost of a replacement. They don't think the battery will last five years - but they are gambling that you won't take advantage of their warranty.

I'd call 'em on it and replace the battery. I think that's the problem, and if it's not you've lost nothing but a little time. You're going to need to replace it soon anyway.
