spoke with my mechanic and apparently it will cost $600 to replace all my camshaft seals and some other gaskets and o-rings.........jesus i dont know..... apparently there is oil all underneath my car. anyway basically $100 bucks in parts and $500 in labor tearing and reassembling my beast. he did take a look at my rack and pinion and said it looks great. oh well......it is only money right. at this point i dont even care.....whatever it takes to keep her running.

Sorry,

Wish I could help.

We should start some sort of SVX relief fund, like the red cross, to help fellow SVXers in need. Especially in bad times of tranny woes, and the dreaded attack of the "Roaring Lions." (aka wheel bearings), etc.

That idea came up over a year ago on Yahoo! and it was mutually decided that it was a bad one.

i agree that is a bad idea.

of course i was just kidding. it is a shame when someone does not have the money to keep their svx running, but unfortunately that is none of my business. our jobs as friends and fellow svx lovers is to try and save one another as much money as possible with how-tos and overall good advice. thanks anyway cola and grinch.....i mean mr. pockets.

Cool

Don't worry. I understand LarryIII has some connections to some nice folks who's job is to loan money to worthy enterprises. Go to Larry's briefcase & click on "Cousin Vinny".
Good luck, Ron.

Just what are they doing that's worth $500 in labour?

Unless they're doing the rear crank seal, I don't see how there's 6+ hours of work there.

Timing belt + front cam seals + front crank seal = 3 hours. What else are they doing?

Hmmm... Tennessee... How far are you away from Beav? I'm sure he'll do it for $500 labour... No?

Ron,

My cousin's name is Vito. His dad, my uncle, is named Vincenzo, er, Vinny.

Show a little respect for the family.

I was not being serious when I posted that.

I can't believe it came up as a serious discussion, over there or anywhere.

What's the difference?

You pay $80/hour dealer shop rate. USD.
I pay $80/hour dealer shop rate. CDN.

Of course, my trusty non-dealer mechanic charges me $60/hour. CDN. So there.

The difference?

1CDN does not equal 1USD more like .66USD.

80USD for service would be more like $120CDN

Really depends where you live. I moved to the US for that exact reason. Most starting desktop, programmer, or systems admin positions in Calgary anyways are like this (with no work exp)

desktop - $20,000 CDN
programmer - $30,000 CDN
systems admin $40,000 CDN

Here in Denver:

desktop - $40,000 US
programmer - $45,000 US
systems admin - $55,000 US

Well worth the move.

Ryan
