Toyota/Ford

Hi everyone, Just read on the Ann Arbor News web site that Ford motor Co. Has licensed hybrid technology from Toyota. This will be Gasoline/ electric motor hybrid technology. It said the technology was covered by more than 100 patents. Toyota has an existing licencing deal with Nisson which is partly owned by Renault, the French auto and truck maker. Take care, BOBB

toyota is not licensing all the hybrid tech stuff to Ford. I don't think Toyota is going to make awhole lot of money from the deal.
First GM buys Honda's 3.5L V6...now Ford is getting into the mix with a Japanese car company even more.

*waiting for Ferrari-Porsche deal....how long is never?!*

I can't tell if you're aware of this or not from the way you fraised your response, but Ford is already involved. They basically own Mazda.

Hi Glide, Yeah, I don't think anyone is alone anymore. Just about every car co on earth has a partner or two or three. But why did ours(Subaru)have to be the general. Take care, BOBB

subaru and mitsubuishi are probably the two smallest companies that are still prevalent that i know of.. GM and subie only have a small connection, and i can't think of too many other truly independants

GM has enough control at Subaru that they are taking a WRX and turning it into a Saab for next year.

Also, how is Hyundai tied into Mitsubishi?

Also, Ford currently is tied into; Mazda, Volvo, Range Rover, Jaguar, and Aston Martin, that I know of, I might be missing another one...

that's gonna be one disgusting place ... Well have ya ever looked at a Toyota Tacoma and a Ford F-150 side by side??? They share alot of body cues... I bet that there is actually more in common with those two trucks than any other two trucks... I wonder if Subaru will ever finish developing the Boxer Diesel engine that they were suposedly working on....

Diesel

Hi chris, Because a Diesel is "Compression Ignition" It seems to me that putting the heads opposite each other would not be as good as in line or V configuration. Take care, BOBB

P/S Its like having a drive through liqueur store. Its a good idea, but should you do it! "B"

Yea I thought it was strange to hear about a "Flat 4 Diesel" but I heard it off NASIOC... apparently they heard it somewhere that Subaru is experimenting with the Idea.... It would be pretty cool to see that's for sure... I love Diesels Used to work for Volvo (heavy equipment) in NC before I joined the Marines.. Diesels are great!!!
