After seeing consumer reports call the V-8 Grand Cherokee the worst scoring vehicle ever tested in reliability I was totally turned off. I mean ever??? There were alot of fords tested during that time frame weren't there??? I researched and saw that they rated the 4Runner and Pathfinder as the best mid size SUVs. So after almost buying a 98 4Runner, I bought a 99.5 Pathfinder (the .5 is because there were two 99's. The new body stlye released mid year was also called a 99 by Nissan instead of calling it an early 00. The dealer book actually says 99.5 on the cover) I'd stick with those two.

I had a 97 V8 Grand cherokee which had nearly 220,000 miles on it with the only problem it ever had being a cracked thermostat housing and some peeling vinyl on the door panels (replaced under warranty). My parents are still using it as a spare car and it's never needed anything but brakes, tires, and oil changes.

In this case, it means someone made a comment that was completely unnecesary because they wanted to say something, but had nothing intelligent to say. I've learned in my life that when you present a truth that someone else doesn't like...it tends to make them mad...sometimes to the point of retaliation...and usually that retaliation is made in pure ignorance...much like Chicane prides himself in fighting...though this time he took ignorance's side. Figure that one out.

Anyway it's a weird line, but I thought it sounded smooth and fit the situation.

Almost forgot...Mike where did you get a (running) Jeep with 220,000 miles? Those are few and far between man. That's impressive even by SVX standards. A friend of mine used to have a Tahoe, which he sold with 201,000 miles. I thought THAT was really impressive.

My dad bought it new and used it to commute from Lancaster, PA to Baltimore daily. I then got it from him, then this year he took posession of it again (as It wasnt fitting in my driveway anymore, and I never drove it as it's the most uncomfortible car ever made)

my friend had a Cherokee with 200,000+ miles he just sold, and he has another with 150,000+. no problems, other than rattles and squeaks.

The 4.0L Jeeps will run forever, they start to sound like dizels around 200K but they still keep running as long as you keep as much oil going in as there is running out the rear main seal.
