Quick ASAP question about factory stereo

Which side of the car is the factory speaker wiring run on? The left or the right? I want to put the amp's power cable on the other side....

there's trouble with the wiring in that sense.

Driver's side front stays in a loom on that side.

Passenger side front stays in a loom on that side.

rear speakers run over to passenger side kick panel, down a channel on that side to the rear seat area. Then they cut across to the driver's side and up the rear wheel well. They go up to the underside of the package tray at the rear, driver's side, then over to rear passenger side.

You may be able to follow using the attached drawing - look for the R24 connector around the rear package tray and trace back.

If you're putting in good stereo equipment, might as well run new speaker wire to the rears down the opposite side. Or are you using the amp for the rear speakers? If you're doing that, then there's nothing to worry about..

Its a 4 channel amp, that I'm going to be using to power all of the speakers

Anyway, I want to keep the power on one side, and the RCAs and speaker wire on the other.

Any ideas?

Also, and pardon my french here, but how the F**K do you get the amp power cable through the firewall?!?! I've searched for this topic, and one person said go through the 'bundle of wires' near the pedals, but it seems like the gromet would never seal again and you'd have a draft right near your feet. The other suggestion was go near the AC condensor drip hose, but again, how the hell do you get through it while still 'sealing' the cabin from the elements?

And Mike (GreenSVX) said to go through a grommet 'under and to the left' of the master cylinder. I can't figure out WHAT the hell he is talkinga bout. THIS SUCKS.

after you put the wire through one of the gromets use some RTV to seal it up.

Through the grommet? I was thinking they meant pop off the grommet, put the wire through, and kinda push the grommet back into it, but it wouldn't be in all the way.

I just drilled a hole that came out right under the booster and it worked great. Or is that the hole that was there already? I did it a long time ago but either way you can't even tell it's there very clean.

Of course you could always just run it through the door jamb like all the ricers.

what he said. if this is too perplexing, maybe you should take it to the Hack 'n Slash Stereo Shop.

getting through the wall

When we did mine we simply made a slit in the grommet. Then get a role of electirical tape and start rapping it around a straightend coat hanger and the wire. Once you think you have used enough rap it some more. Push the hanger through the slit. Then get one person to pull from the inside while you push from the outside. It takes time but you don't need rtv and it doesn't leak at all. Oh I ran the power wire down the driver side and I don't get any hum.

Good Luck

Nah. I don't want to. Stealth rocks, esecially while my alarm is broken. If anything, I think I'd like to get that alpine LCD thing that SVXTC Turbo guy has installed. That just looks INCREDIBLE.

you do realize that speaker level inputs to an amp sound like ass, right? your ghetto sound may vary, though.

as far as stealth goes, i was thinking about making my own theft deterrent. something like a blank black panel to cover the radio, with wires cut off the back of an old stereo hanging out of the empty space underneath to give the illusion that the radio was already ripped out. it would be for times when the car is left in a parking lot for a long time, or was parked in 'shady' areas.
