RWD, Manual, Beater... ???

Ok, my friends and I are trying to find a RWD, manual car for about $600... RWD and manual are MUSTS. its going to be a "progect"/ "beater" car. we would prefer a small little car/hatchback. We will be stripping it down completely so interior condition or airconditioning etc. doesn't matter. If anyone knows of a model of car that they think would work well, or actually has a specific car (has to be near IL) i would love to hear from you... if it needs some work thats ok too, because we all are willing to work on it(have a friend who owns a garage)... basically we'd be getting it ready for racing... only not actually putting money into it... Thanks for any ideas or suggestions.

Or how bout a 1st gen 200SX. RWD, turbo charged, hatchback, and manual. I'm sure you'll find one for $600, but it might need some work.

While I'm sure you can get a 1st-gen MR2 for $600, I doubt very much that you're going to find a supercharged one for that amount.

Still, I'd look for an MR2, as well. I'd actually really like one to rally with.

Any (4WD) Subaru minus front axles. They even have front E-brakes for effortless line locks.

Sounds like only one car to me...Chevy Chevette! Meets all your criterium and you can shoehorn a 455 rat motor in one of them. Might not handle well but it will end up beating a vented SVX with small mirrors on it in a straight line run. Raw Fury dog!

Talking

How about a Pinto with a Mitso/Taurus SHO V6?
Be sure to mount gas tank on the roof.

Ron (don't forget the flamesuit).

It would be a far drive to pick it up, and it is multi-colored with no glass in the rear hatch so the drivetrain is questionable. But maybe i'll stop and check it out just to see what $500 bucks gets ya.

Definitely go with the MR2. You can pick up an older one 85-86 for cheap in the condition you want it in. I bought this one for $275, and it still runs and drove and everything. 205k miles

here's the condition I bought it in

Its currently waiting for body work and a paint job, and it will be as good as new.

Peugeot 505's are RWD and some are manual. I know this dealer that has a Turbo/intercooled one for 1295. Nice car, but its auto.
